Job description

As a Smallworld GIS Engineer, you will:
  • Install, configure, and maintain the Smallworld GIS product suite including PNI, Electric Office (EO), Gas Office, and associated modules (e.g., SW4, SW5, GDO, GTO, GSS, GSA, DM, MES, NRM, K8).
  • Customize and extend GIS applications using Magik and Java based on client-specific requirements.
  • Perform patching and upgrades, including third-party tools like ONA and Data Center Management, within live customer environments.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system-level and application-level issues using logs, scripts, and debugging tools.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure systems are stable, efficient, and aligned with utility and telecom industry needs.
What You Bring to the Table:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Smallworld PNI, EO, and related GIS applications.
  • Strong programming background in Magik and Java, with deep familiarity with VMDS and Oracle databases.
  • Proficiency in SQL, shell scripting, and log/debug file analysis.
  • Experience installing and configuring Smallworld software products and third-party integrations.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and basic system administration practices.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for documentation and communication.
You should possess the ability to:
  • Work independently and efficiently in a remote setup with minimal supervision.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues in live environments without disrupting operations.
  • Apply structured problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis.
  • Communicate effectively in English and the local language to collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders.
