GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer II with a passion for supporting and enhancing the platform that provides high volume corporate email.

Position Description

The Engineer II position will be expected to act as a key member of the engineering staff collaborating with cross functional teams to build and support email solutions, ensuring a friction-less experience to our customers while maintaining the highest standards of security and availability. Our team thrives and succeeds in delivering email processes and solutions for a dynamic environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad technical knowledge, typically ranging from M365 Exchange and hybrid server administration to PowerShell scripting and will have a have a track record of providing first rate Tier 1 end user support.

Position Responsibilities

As an Exchange Engineer, you play a crucial role in managing GEICO’s email and mailboxes. Here are some key tasks associated with this role:

  • Support Common Exchange Tasks such as
    • Configure “Send as” and “Send on behalf” delegates for specific mailboxes
    • Create shared mailboxes to allow a group of people to monitor and send emails from a common address
    • Create dynamic distribution lists

  • Support and Create Mailbox Policies such as
    • Defining mailbox sharing policies and specifying how users can share calendar and contact information with external parties.

  • Support and Partner on Email Security Management
  • Provide Custom Automation and Scripting
    • Use PowerShell to script custom solutions and common administrative tasks.

  • Assist with scoping, designing, and building scalable, resilient distributed systems
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration for the products that we support
  • Consistently share best practices and improve and document processes within and across teams 
  • Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution
  • Participate in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization with respect to Power Automate flows and PowerShell scripts.

Qualifications

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting against the M365 and On-Prem environments.
  • Experience with M365 and all its offerings and configurations from an administrative standpoint.
  • Familiarity with Exchange hybrid environment that includes Exchange 2016 On-Prem servers and M365
  • Experience with all Mail Flow processes from all Client entry points (Web or Desktop), including Exchange connectors
  • Experience with Datacenter structure, capabilities and offerings, including the Azure platform, and its native services.
  • Knowledge of network appliances, network flows
  • Knowledge of Server administration and the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication).
  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems  
  • Familiarity with extensible REST APIs and Microsoft Graph
  • Experience with authentication protocols
  • Familiarity with Cloud Architecture and Azure DevOps Operational Framework
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex efforts across functional areas  
  • Strong MS Office skills 
  • Proven customer service and project coordination skills 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Must be available to provide support 24/7 when on-call
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service (2+ years)
  • Project and people management experience
  • Experience in Scripting (2+ years)
  • End user customer experience (ticket processing) (3+ years)

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience


 

Annual Salary

$80,000.00 - $160,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
