Senior Staff Software Engineer – Risk Platform (Remote in Boston; Chicago; SF Bay Area; Portland, ME)
Locations: Bay Area, Chicago, Boston, Portland (ME), Seattle
Full-Time | Direct Hire via Staffing Partner
Base Salary: $180K–$230K + Bonus + RSU + Comprehensive Benefits

We are a talent partner working with a leading global payments and technology company that’s transforming how businesses manage risk and compliance. Our client is building a modern, AI-enhanced Risk Platform and is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to help lead this transformation.

🚩 Location Requirement:
This role is remote, but candidates must reside in one of our designated virtual hub locations: Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Portland, ME; Seattle, WA; or the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. While there is no requirement to be in an office regularly, proximity to one of these hubs is necessary for occasional in-person collaboration.


What You’ll Do
  • Architect and scale the company’s next-generation Risk Platform in collaboration with senior engineering and product leaders.

  • Lead technical design, development, and production operations of critical risk services and infrastructure.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Data, AI, Compliance, and Risk Product teams to build innovative and secure solutions.

  • Mentor engineers, foster a culture of excellence, and help scale a high-performing risk tech org.

  • Ensure platform observability, compliance, security, and operational readiness.

  • Drive long-term technology strategy and platform reliability across cloud-native systems.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with strong architecture and systems design expertise.

  • Experience with ML system infrastructure—such as feature engineering, model training pipelines, and serving traditional models (e.g., random forest, classification models). Deep learning expertise is not required.

  • Familiarity with model monitoring, performance evaluation, and integrating ML into production systems.

  • Proficiency in cloud environments (AWS or Azure), Kubernetes, Lambda, and microservices.

  • Ability to lead and mentor teams and work cross-functionally in fast-paced, regulated environments.

  • Experience in fintech, payments, or highly regulated domains is a plus.
     

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $180,000 – $230,000
