The Team:
The D-Matrix’s Simulation and Modeling team provides a Virtual Platform that enables software development early in the product cycle. The platform includes bit-accurate functional reference models, cycle-approximate simulations, and detailed cycle-accurate simulations. The platform is written in C++ and Python and makes heavy use of generators and run-time configuration. Many of the simulations are large-scale and the platform supports distribution of work.
The Role:
You will be responsible for contributing to functional reference models and performance simulators. This will primarily involve consuming a hardware specification document and creating algorithmic or transactional models of the hardware’s behavior. You will engage with architects and hardware designers to clarify documentation and resolve architectural issues. You will have opportunities to contribute to modeling infrastructure, correlate models against silicon, and spearhead the debug of workloads and architectural issues.
You:
You are a C++ wizard who has previously contributed to bit-accurate functional models or transaction-accurate structural simulations. You enjoy understanding large-scale systems and being a liaison across teams. You are excited about the idea of minimizing boilerplate and copy-pasted code. You are familiar with transaction level modeling and understand its pros and cons.
Required:
BS in relevant field
At least 5 years of experience writing functional reference models, transaction level models, or some other form of structural simulator of computer hardware
Proficient in C++ and Python
Comfortable developing in a Linux environment with common version control and development tools
Desired:
Prior startup, small team, or incubation experience
MS or PhD in relevant field
Familiarity with a transaction-based modeling in a framework such as SystemC, SPARTA, or gem5
Strong understanding of event-based simulation architecture
Knowledge of floating point data types and other numeric representations
Experience with distributed systems, HPC, or cloud computing
Working knowledge of common ML models such as BERT, GPT, or Llama
