Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sales Tax Specialist to join our team, specializing in sales tax calculation, reconciliation, and filing for multiple clients across various jurisdictions, specifically focusing on the United States. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate sales tax calculations, timely filing of returns, and compliance with state and federal regulations within the US.

Responsibilities:

1. Sales Tax Calculation and Filing:
Calculate and file sales tax returns for clients in multiple states, with a dedicated focus on the United States.
Stay updated on US sales tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with both state and federal requirements.

2. Account Reconciliation:
Reconcile sales tax accounts to ensure accuracy and promptly address any discrepancies.
Enter payments into the accounting system, ensuring the clearance of sales tax liabilities.

3. Template Management:
Manage and contribute to the creation of standardized sales tax calculation templates.
Implement best practices to streamline and enhance the efficiency of the sales tax calculation process.

4. Collaboration with Accounting:
Assist in various areas of the accounting function during non-filing periods.
Work collaboratively with the accounting team to maintain accurate financial records.

5. Deadline Management:
Organize and manage all sales tax filing deadlines for each client, with a specific emphasis on those in the United States.
Ensure timely submissions to prevent penalties and maintain compliance with US state and federal regulations.

Requirements:

1. US Sales Tax Expertise:
Proven experience in calculating and filing sales tax in at least 10 states within the United States, with a strong focus on key states such as New York, Florida, California, Colorado, Texas, Massachusetts, and New Jersey.

2. Reconciliation Skills:
Demonstrated experience in reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies.

3. Excel Proficiency:
High proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas and data manipulation skills.

4. Detail-Oriented:
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate sales tax calculations and compliance within the US.

5. Organizational Skills:
Ability to organize and manage multiple filing deadlines for various clients, with a specific emphasis on those in the United States.

6. Adaptability:
Flexibility to assist in other areas of accounting as needed during non-filing periods.
