JOB SUMMARY:    Assist the Sports & Fitness’ Associate Pastor, Assistant Pastor, and the ministry in planning and carrying out the Sports & Fitness events of the church.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist the Associate Pastor, Sports & Fitness with the administration, leadership, and scheduling of the youth sports leagues.
  • Take specific responsibility for the administration, leadership and scheduling of 1-2 leagues per season (fall, winter, spring) but not limited to:
    • This role will specifically oversees Crossover Basketball, as well as Upward Baseball & Softball.
    • Plan dates, schedule facilities and set details for the leagues.
    • Promote event registrations to the community and within the church.
    • Recruit and train coaches.
    • Draft teams and create schedules for the leagues.
    • Plan, provide training and resources, and lead the Gospel Presentation efforts each season including follow-up.
    • Provide End-of-Season Celebration.
    • Evaluate the leagues.
    • Provide and maintain an inventory of all supplies and equipment.
  • Work as a valuable member of the Sports & Fitness team to plan and lead/assist all phases of the summer programming including, but not limited to, sports camps and VBS recreation.
  • Provide adequate training for volunteers who are involved in the Sports & Fitness Ministry.
  • Assist the Associate Pastor in creating new sports opportunities that will reach people for Christ.
  • Work with the Sports & Fitness Ministry team to plan sports mission trips for our coaches and church members.
  • Help train and mentor part-time staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Attend and participate in all regular staff meetings, functions, retreats, training, etc.
  • Support the Senior Pastor and all other church staff.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration, Sports Management, or related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of sports recreation experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite, specifically Microsoft word, excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience working, volunteering in sports ministry within a local church or para-church preferred.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of standing and sitting. Sitting at a desk or working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15-20 pounds at times.
  • Comfortable working in both outdoor and indoor environments.
