We do this by uncovering powerful ideas, rallying industry leaders around them, and benchmarking their progress. Our services include the distribution of inspirational content across digital channels, as well as making meaningful connections through our live events and peer networks.

We are looking for creative thinkers with the skills and drive to help advance our vision. If you are interested in bringing 150 years of experience and reputation together with a start-up mentality, then we invite you to get to know us.

About the Position:

We are seeking a Market Intelligence Analyst to provide commentary, analysis and insights about payments for American Banker’s executive-level subscribers. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the payments industry and how banks work. Essential skills include the ability to analyze the most important trends in the worlds of payments and banking and explain clearly what’s at stake for executives in the field.

The Market Intelligence Analyst will guide strategic decision-making by executive audiences with timely, actionable insights and advice about market data, trends, news, and competitive activity. This role requires a keen understanding of the payments landscape, the ability to identify emerging opportunities and threats, and the communication skills to translate complex information and data into clear, concise, and impactful reports and opinion pieces for payments executives. A nimble communicator and writer, the person in this role will be expected to create timely content ranging from quick takes on breaking news to in-depth research reports.  The analyst will be in tune with the evolving future of banking, from on-chain finance to embedded banking, the future of credit cards and cross-border payments. An ability and eagerness to engage with American Banker’s executive-level subscribers is key, as the analyst will be a face and voice of the brand, leading roundtable and other discussions at events both internal and external.

The analyst will operate independently from the reporting team but will collaborate closely with the newsroom, research, and events to elevate American Banker’s thought leadership and visibility among payments leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection and Analysis:

    • Analyze proprietary surveys and select data from other sources to produce research reports for targeted executive roles in the banking and payments industries.

    • Utilize data analysis tools and techniques to identify trends, patterns, and correlations.

    • Develop and maintain market intelligence databases and dashboards.

  • Market Monitoring and Analysis:

    • Actively monitor and track global news, economic indicators, and regulatory developments relevant to target executive rules.

    • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer behavior to identify potential opportunities and risks.

    • Assess the impact of geopolitical events, economic shifts, and technological advancements on the competitive landscape.

    • Maintain and grow connections and sources within the Payments industry to support analysis and provide additional context.

  • Reporting and Communication:

    • Prepare and deliver regular and ad-hoc market intelligence reports, presentations, and briefings to executive leadership and other stakeholders.

    • Communicate findings in a clear, concise, and actionable manner, tailoring the message to the audience.

    • Create a daily newsletter for subscribers with need-to-know payments analysis, establishing familiarity among American Banker subscribers and building personal voice and authority.

    • Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making through webinars, salon dinners, podcasts, events and on-air appearances.

  • Strategic Support:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including editorial, sales, marketing, product development, and strategy, to provide market intelligence support.

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of subscriber growth strategies, product launches, and marketing campaigns.
