About the job:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Engineer with extensive experience in Project Management and Site Planning for medical equipment installations in Clinics and Hospitals as well as managing different Clinical Engineering activities in hospital environments.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate solid experience working across African markets, be fluent in both Portuguese and English, and possess the technical acumen and leadership capabilities to oversee full-cycle biomedical engineering projects—from conception to final implementation.

This managerial role requires a blend of technical expertise, procurement and negotiation experience, people management and project management skills to ensure our team is coordinated and focused on strategic deliverables, managing projects so as to complete on time, within scope, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Lead and manage end-to-end biomedical equipment projects including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution across multiple healthcare facilities in Africa.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with design consultants, architects, and planners to ensure equipment specifications align with project requirements.
  • Procurement Management: Lead procurement activities, including vendor selection, negotiation, purchasing, and logistics for medical equipment and systems.
  • Installation & Commissioning: Supervise on-site installation and commissioning of biomedical systems, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Team Leadership: Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineers, technicians, contractors, and vendors.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure equipment and systems meet international and local healthcare standards and certifications.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed project reports, budgets, timelines, and risk assessments for internal and client stakeholders.
  • Training & Handover: Organize training sessions for healthcare staff on the operation and maintenance of installed equipment. Ensure proper project handover and documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
  • 10+ years of experience of project management experience in a medical or healthcare environment.
  • Hands-on experience with procurement, installation, and commissioning of medical equipment.
  • Work experience in African healthcare infrastructure projects is required.
  • Bilingual fluency in Portuguese and English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare equipment compliance, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in challenging environments.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be willingness to travel across different project locations in Angola.
