Salary Range: $60,000- $62,000

Position Summary
The Program Manager will maintain operational responsibility for implementing Gang Alternative Inc.’s after school program (middle and high school), Building Leaders of Character (BLOC). The Program Manager performs duties related to planning, implementing, directing, and coordinating both the programmatic and operational activities, in accordance with the mission and goals of the Gang Alternative, Inc. The Program Manager also provides coordination between the programs and their partners and vendors.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide daily oversight of at all program sites 
  • Implement and manage changes and interventions to ensure program goals are achieved.
  • Supervise team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities including program staff, volunteers, and contractual providers.
  • Assist with recruitment and training of staff, volunteers, and contractual providers.
  • Ensure that job descriptions are developed for subordinates.
  • Ensure that regular performance evaluations are done and that sound human resource practices are in place.
  • Serve as liaison to school personnel where children attend (to maintain grade reports and monitor student progress).
  • Oversee overall development and implementation at all service sites including promoting, enhancing, and sustaining strategies with community-based organizations, businesses, churches, and schools.
  • Track programs against their work plan/timeline and budget reporting status to the Senior Program Manager on a regular basis.
  • Ensure implementation of the Evidence-Based curricula identified in the work plans.
  • Develop process flow charts and operating plans for the programs.
  • Assist with the outreach, recruiting, and intake processes for participants.
  • Facilitate sessions and conduct assessments as needed.
  • Oversee tracking of participants’ attendance and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Gang Alternative, Inc.’s College and Career Development Specialist to ensure that each participant has a success plan, and that progress/achievement of milestones is tracked regularly.
  • Collaborate with other program teams across Gang Alternative, Inc. to connect participants to needed support services.
  • As needed, link participants to additional services that may not be offered in-house by Gang Alternative, Inc.
  • Research, obtain, and organize resources that will guide participants in making educational, vocational, and employment decisions.
  • Plan, schedule, and implement engagement activities for participants and their families.
  • Oversee staff development plans.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications

Qualifications and Competencies

  • A minimum of a Bachelor level degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in social work, education, youth development, or related fields plus 5 years minimum experience serving youth and families with an emphasis on program development and administration.
  • Bi-lingual (English-Creole) preferred.
  • Available for flexible work schedule, including evenings and some weekends.
  • Significant supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing positive youth development programs, with preference for grant-funded afterschool programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and work effectively with young people.
  • Demonstrated highly effective leadership and community outreach skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and managing grants including experience with data-driven, outcome-based planning and reporting activities.
  • Excellent budget management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with electronic technologies, data collection and reporting including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural competence, and ability to work effectively with youth and adult volunteers. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural competence, and ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of community building, collaborating, and networking.
  • Good judgment and proven ability to deal skillfully with controversy and sensitive issues.

Note:
•    This position may require independent travel between work station and other sites. Consequently, the incumbent must maintain valid Driver’s License and insurance coverage on personal vehicle at all times during employment.
•    Performing the duties of this position requires the ability to walk, sit, stand, reach, talk, hear and lift presentation materials, including equipment.
