Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate’s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.

Job Summary:       Provide tax, ERISA, and other legal advice and support to our retirement services business.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel regarding retirement plan products and services (i.e. services for 401(k), Defined Benefit, ESOP and 403(b) plans) 
  • Review, draft, and advise on retirement plan documents and amendments 
  • Draft and negotiate contracts for the retirement business
  • Research and analyze relevant laws, regulations, and monitor industry trends
  • Monitor and advise on regulatory matters and support the business with implementation and risk mitigation
  • Prepare IRS forms and filings (e.g., Voluntary Compliance Program Filings)
  • Advise on plan corrections and plan terminations
  • Provide legal support for internal staff as needed (Sales, Consulting, Operations)
  • Assist the General Counsel with ad hoc projects 

Requirements:  

  • J.D. from an accredited law school required 
  • Member of good standing in at least one jurisdiction
  • 3+ years of experience needed with ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code as they relate to retirement plans
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong research skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as member of a team
  • Detail-oriented, well organized and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to identify and analyze risk
