Job Description:
We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Litigation Lawyer to join a leading Australian law firm on a flexible, contract basis. In this role, you'll work on complex commercial disputes, including contractual, shareholder, insolvency, and regulatory matters. Ideal candidates will have strong litigation experience within a common law jurisdiction and the ability to navigate Australian civil procedure with ease. This is a great opportunity to work remotely or in hybrid arrangements while contributing to high-value, strategic legal matters
Manage and advise on a portfolio of commercial disputes, including contract breaches, shareholder conflicts, and insolvency-related matters.
Draft court documents including pleadings, affidavits, submissions, and correspondence with opposing counsel.
Conduct detailed legal research and case analysis to support litigation strategy and client advice.
Prepare for and attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations, as required.
Collaborate with internal teams and client-side stakeholders to align legal strategy with commercial outcomes.
Support discovery processes, including document review, evidence management, and witness preparation.
Stay up to date with relevant Australian civil procedure rules and case law developments.
Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Juris Doctor (JD), or equivalent legal qualification from a recognized institution.
3–6+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial litigation, dispute resolution, or regulatory investigations, ideally with exposure to Australian or common law systems.
Solid experience managing complex commercial disputes, including contract breaches, shareholder disputes, insolvency matters, and regulatory enforcement.
Skilled in handling end-to-end litigation processes: drafting pleadings, managing discovery, conducting legal research, preparing for hearings, and advising clients
Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
