Description

Internship Program at WM

At WM, we recognize the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) opportunities for students in the diverse communities we serve. Through the WM internship program, we pair our professionals with students looking to gain first-hand real-world experience in order to provide guidance and career advice. Our internships help students of all levels, whether they be college students or high school seniors, fine tune their skills, gain confidence and find an edge in the job market.

Responsibilities:

  • Determine appropriate application of technical methods of the work and verify compliance with criteria. 
  • Monitor current design trends/methodologies related to their area of expertise.
  • Participate in the development of engineering design studies and reports.
  • Participate in the development of engineering design details, specifications, contract drawings

and estimates. 

  • Perform design calculations.
  • Field work as required for inspections, locating utilities, various topo items, etc.
  • Research SHA and County Records, such as for plats, deeds, records, etc.
  • Earthwork and other quantities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Objectives: Our program goal is to expose students to meaningful experiences. Candidates will learn from some of the industry’s best engineers in an environment which encourages creativity, supports flexibility and values diversity. Throughout the internship we will provide you with support, training and direction that ensures that our students have the opportunity to earn a positive placement with us and leaves them feeling inspired.

 

Expectations: All we ask is that the students bring with them a curious mind ready to pursue whatever challenges present themselves throughout the Internship and the drive and consistency to pursue their interests within the team.

Eligibility: All High School Seniors and College students involved in Engineering programs or interested in pursuing Civil Engineering as a career are eligible.
