About the Project

The VMA hospital energy-efficient rehabilitation project represents a high-impact initiative supported by KfW to enhance energy performance and sustainability of one of Serbia key healthcare institutions. As the project enters its second phase, we are seeking an experienced Energy Efficiency Engineer to support technical design, analysis, and implementation planning of energy-saving measures and sustainability upgrades.

We are looking for a motivated and results-oriented Energy Efficiency Engineer Consultant to join our client team and help coordinate impactful operations that drive real change. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to transformative green energy and sustainable development initiatives.

One of the key projects you will support is the energy-efficient rehabilitation of the VMA Hospital flagship initiative backed by KfW to improve energy performance and sustainability at one of Serbia most important healthcare institutions. As the project advances into its second phase, we are seeking an experienced engineer to lead technical design, conduct detailed energy analyses, and support the implementation planning of energy-saving measures and sustainability upgrades.


Position Overview

KfW Entwicklungsbank (KfW), one of the worlds leading bilateral development banks, is seeking an Energy Efficiency Engineer Consultant

Your Role and Responsibilities

As an Energy Efficiency Engineer, you will be a pivotal technical expert supporting the planning, assessment, and optimization of energy systems in line with international standards and local requirements. You will work closely with KfW and key stakeholders to:

  • Provide advisory support during the preparation and appraisal of the second phase of energy-efficient construction measures.
  • Analyze existing energy consumption and demand profiles, with a focus on identifying limitations and potential for efficiency improvements.
  • Calculate energy savings, investment costs, funding mechanisms, and develop business cases for various system optimization scenarios.
  • Lead expert discussions on greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction strategies and sustainability targets.
  • Conduct detailed energy audits at the VMA and associated facilities.
  • Identify and evaluate Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) across systems including HVAC, lighting, steam, EMS/BMS, renewable integration, electrification, and waste-to-energy.
  • Monitor energy-saving targets, identify deviations, and propose corrective actions or enhancements.


Your Profile Skills and Experience

We are looking for a motivated and experienced professional with a strategic mindset and a hands-on approach:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field with a focus on energy systems.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in energy efficiency optimization, particularly in buildings, or energy management (ISO 50001 preferred).

Technical Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation (EMS/BMS), lighting, heat pumps, steam systems, renewable energy sources, and waste-to-energy technologies.
  • Strong experience in technical feasibility studies, project design, and cost-benefit analyses for energy efficiency projects.
  • Understanding of capital and O&M cost structures related to energy measures.
  • Familiarity with public procurement, budgeting procedures, and environmental compliance.

Desirable Assets:

  • Prior experience with international financial institutions (e.g., KfW, EU, EBRD).
  • Proven experience in infrastructure or energy sector projects.
  • German language skills are an advantage.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up capabilities in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office suite required).
