About Us: LifeMoves is the largest and most effective provider of housing and services for neighbors experiencing homelessness in Silicon Valley since 1987. Our Mission is to end homelessness by providing interim housing, supportive services, and building collaborative partnerships. With 40 programs, LifeMoves gives our neighbors experiencing homelessness a temporary place to call home while providing intensive, customized case management through site-based programs and community outreach.

LifeMoves Homekey Mountain View (MTV), operational since May 2021, provides interim supportive housing to 100 households, including families, singles, and couples. The facility is ADA-compliant. During their stay, clients engage in tailored services addressing each household's specific needs and goals, with support provided in areas such as children’s services, employment, housing, benefits, and physical and behavioral health. This assistance is delivered through case management, workshops, and connections to specialized resources. Additional on-site services include dining and laundry.

Through this purpose-built environment, we offer customized services designed to stabilize clients and empower them to regain self-sufficiency. Staffed 24/7, this role specifically supports clients onsite and reports directly to the Operations and Services Manager at MTV.

Shift details: Sunday-Thursday, 3:30pm-12:00am

Position Summary:

The Program Aide is responsible for ensuring the facility and community spaces are well kept and functioning. The Program Aide is also responsible for administrative tasks that contribute to facility operations. The successful candidate should exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with other staff, clients, donors, and partnering agencies and always with sensitivity to the needs of the homeless population.

Primary Duties:            

  • Provide calm, supportive crisis response and connect clients to appropriate resources when needed
  • Support daily operations by responding to needs and questions from clients, volunteers, donors, and visitors with radical hospitality, professionalism, and compassion.
  • Monitor site safety through regular rounds and by observing security cameras to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Report maintenance or pest control needs promptly and support pest control efforts by maintaining cleanliness standards, assisting with basic prevention, such as disposing of food waste properly and preparing rooms or belongings for professional treatments.
  • Manage facility meals, supplies, and donations, ensuring proper inventory, and maintaining organized storage
  • Conduct welcomes, move-ins, completions, and move-outs, ensuring accurate documentation, smooth transitions for clients, and completing tasks such as cleaning rooms, bagging belongings, and preparing spaces as needed
  • Support team collaboration by creating reports and shift logs, participating in meetings, and engaging in continuous training
  • Maintain a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, boundaries, and professionalism while fostering a supportive environment for all
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to ensure effective program operations
  • Fully participate in all required trainings. This includes completing trainings by assigned deadlines, actively engaging during sessions, and applying what you learn to your daily work.
    • Training expectations in the first 90 days of employment include but are not limited to CPR, Mental Health/First Aide (MHFA), Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training, HMIS and internal database training.
    • Additional required trainings available through our online Learning Management System, Relias, include (but are not limited to): Client's Experience of Trauma-Informed Care, Working with Individuals Experiencing Homelessness, Overview of Serious Mental Illness for Paraprofessionals, Working with Individuals Experiencing Homelessness and Substance Use Disorder, An Overview of Substance Use Disorders, Strategies for Preventing and De-escalating Hostile Situations, Recognizing and Responding to a Person in Crisis, Maintaining Professional Boundaries, Overcoming Barriers to LGBTQ+ Affirming Behavioral Health Services, Privacy and Confidentiality for Non-HIPAA Covered Entities, Child, Elder, and Dependent Adult Abuse Prevention and Mandated Reporting, Preventing, Identifying, and Responding to Abuse and Neglect, Reporting Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse in California, and Identifying and Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required, or candidates with at least 2 years of directly related experience in the homelessness or human services field may qualify 
  • This may include direct involvement in peer advocacy, community outreach, or support roles within the homelessness services field.
  • Personal or professional experience/education working with mental health clients a plus.
  • An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, ideas and practices that promote diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred, but not mandatory.

  • Technology: Comfortable using basic technology, including phone and messaging systems, email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases to complete administrative tasks.
