POSITION: Director, Payer Access


The salary range for this position is between $200K and $235K.

Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills, and experience. The company also currently offers a Long-Term Incentive Plan (cash plan) of 25% base salary, annual performance bonus target of 25% base salary (subject to meeting plan requirements) and comprehensive health benefits (employer funded), unlimited vacation time and 401k plan (subject to change or modification from time to time).

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The National Account Director (NAD) will be primarily responsible for securing and maintaining formulary access with Medicare, large national and select regional health plans. Additional responsibilities include developing payer account level strategies, as well as determining how best to communicate the product's clinical and relevant economic attributes to payer decision makers and influencers, during prelaunch, launch and post-launch phases of a product's life-cycle. This will be a field-based position reporting to the Director, Corporate Accounts.

As a member of a cross-functional team, this role shares information and best practices with their teammates, is personally invested in the success of the overall organization and is passionate about serving patients.


Key Responsibilities


  • Effectively negotiate formulary access or appropriate clinical utilization management policies with payer customers in order to support brand objectives.

  • Develop and execute business plans and contract strategies for all assigned accounts, in partnership with Payer Contracting, Brand Marketing, Payer Marketing, and Medical Affairs.

  • Build and maintain deep relationships with key customers to ensure successful near-term access for current brands while preparing for future product launches

  • Partner with cross-functional partners, i.e. MSL’s, leadership, field teams, etc. to proactively communicate approved clinical information across Averitas’ portfolio and expand payer relationship. Works to respond to therapeutic class reviews, drug formulary coverage review committees or any other special clinical requests

  • Present payer value proposition and relevant health economics data on product portfolio to support efforts to secure positive formulary access.

  • Attend and act as a liaison for Averitas at all major market access conferences (i.e. PCMA, AMCP, Asembia, etc.)


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (MBA preferred); science or business focus preferred  

  • 10+ years of progressive pharmaceutical/biotech commercial experience, 5+ years of account management experience calling on national payers and PBMs

  • Ability to travel up to 60%, including overnights and international travel as needed

  • Exemplary presentation and communication skills

  • Specialty Pharmacy and Specialty Product Buy & Bill experience is required

  • Deep relationships with a broad range of Market Access customers

  • Experience with Formulary Access and New Business development

  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word)

 

Career Experience


  • Indication/Product launch experience of a buy and bill specialty product

  • Experience in the pain marketplace preferred

  • Experience working with Medicare Part B and D

  • Knowledge of pain management and/or medical device, specialty pharmaceutical, or biologic product launch.
