Job description

Wisedocs is on a mission to make it easy and accessible for any company in the insurance, legal and medical space to understand medical documents quickly using AI (Artificial Intelligence). Every week, we process hundreds of thousands of pages of documents, saving our customers hours and hours of manual processing time, and helping them process medical claims much more quickly.

Role Summary

We're looking for a driven and adaptable DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment. At Wisedocs, you'll play a critical role in scaling our infrastructure, enhancing CI/CD pipelines, and driving reliability across our machine learning-powered document intelligence platform. You’ll collaborate closely with developers, product teams, and data scientists to automate systems, implement observability, and ensure high availability and performance across cloud-native services.

This position will also include technical support responsibilities, such as triaging and resolving issues reported by customers or the customer support team and escalating them to the development team as needed.

This position supports a U.S. government contract. Therefore, having U.S. citizenship of 3+ years is a prerequisite for this role, and will be required to undergo a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar).
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins) with a bias toward automation and speed without compromising quality.
  • Proven track record implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog) to support performance, reliability, and incident response.
  • A developer’s mindset toward infrastructure—treating ops as code, testing as a must, and automation as default.
  • Experience working in high-growth or early-stage environments where ownership, experimentation, and agility are key.
  • Passion for reliability engineering, system performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Triaging and resolving technical issues reported by users or customer support and escalating to engineering when needed.
  • Working closely with support and product teams to ensure timely and effective resolution of customer-facing issues.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering role, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer, preferably in a cloud-based environment.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure automation, configuration management, and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Podman).
  • Extensive experience with AWS, with additional knowledge of Azure or GCP considered an advantage.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python or Shell.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools and experience in setting up monitoring systems (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Strong proven Linux knowledge
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in an Agile environment, with an understanding of automation practices throughout the development, build, and deployment phases of the application lifecycle.
  • A flexible and proficient engineering mindset; comfortable navigating frequently changing work items and scopes, and capable of managing multiple simultaneous tasks efficiently.
  • Experience working in a SaaS or high-growth startup environment.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and collaborative cross-functional team environments.
  • Familiarity with browser developer console.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator).
  • Familiarity with browser developer tools
