(Workers’ Compensation) | 100% Remote (WFH) Opportunity

General Summary

Under minimal supervision, the Premium Audit Processing Specialist is responsible for understanding and examining financial records and state manual rules and regulations to complete accurate virtual audits and determine true premium on insured’s Workers’ Compensation (work comp) policies. Additionally, they will work alongside other departments as subject matter experts, and work with our insureds to handle and resolve audit disputes. This position is provided training regarding state rules and regulations which will act as a foundation for a career in premium auditing.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop a working knowledge of manual rules, state regulations and company standards and procedures to prepare and process final premium audits and revisions.
  • Review claims: verify employment of major claims and correct class codes assigned in the claims operating system.
  • Investigates disputes and discrepancies in payroll, classification data as well as communicating findings to the Supervisor or Manager as appropriate.
  • Performs a high volume of premium audits each month to meet company production standards.
  • Completes assigned workload within the established company KPI standards.
  • Maintains excellent agency, policyholder, and interdepartmental relationships and communications. Educates agents and underwriters on correct classifications.
  • Ability to research proper classifications within workers comp bureaus and guidelines.
  • Performs clerical functions such as answering phones, emails, and audit inquiries in a timely manner to provide excellent customer service.
  • Notify Underwriting, Claims, and Fraud department as appropriate.
  • Endorse renewal policies as determined by audit findings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of previous premium audit experience applying either W.C.I.R.B., N.C.C.I. and other bureau rules and regulations or related experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Highly efficient with excellent time management skills.
  • Strong communication ability including excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Can succinctly convey complex information to others.
  • Attention to detail to develop the ability of review, sort and accurately identify records relevant to the premium audit.
  • Intermediate computer skills including ability to use spreadsheets, e-mail, and 10-key by touch.
  • Ownership and accountability of output, decisions, and mistakes.
  • Basic accounting/bookkeeping knowledge and mathematical aptitude.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Education

  • 2 years of college and/or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Work Environment

Remote: This role is remote, and only open to candidates currently located in the United States and able to work without sponsorship.
