The Role

We're looking for a Principal Data Scientist who is passionate about solving complex problems using AI, machine learning, statistical modeling, and experimentation. As a senior member of the data science team, you will work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and business teams to shape the next generation of Session AI’s intelligence capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the research, advanced analytics, and feature engineering efforts across AI/ML applications.
  • Design and develop experiments for machine learning models and statistical algorithms to drive product and customer insights.
  • Translate complex analytics, performance metrics, observations and findings into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with leadership, product managers and engineers to explore innovative ideas and lead AI initiatives.
  • Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to best practices in data science and advanced analytics.
  • Stay up to date with the latest in AI/ML research.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied statistics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • String analytical skills.
  • Deep knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning, time-series forecasting, clustering, and recommendation systems.
  • Strong programming skills in Python (preferred) with experience using libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, etc.
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience troubleshooting production issues and doing root-cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical content to diverse audiences.
  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in behavioral analytics or personalization engines.
  • Background in real-time data processing or event-driven architectures.
  • Prior experience in high-growth SaaS or AI/ML startups.
