About the Role:

We are seeking an engineering leader to drive a critical product-focused engineering team in our Product Security organization against a large and ambitious roadmap. As Confluent grows and develops the Data Streaming Platform, the Product Security team is at the center of the conversation, bringing seamless security functionality across all of our products to ensure the best customer experience on the DSP. This deeply-experienced team is responsible for not only setting critical product strategy for our security features, but executing on this strategy and collaborating with other leaders across the company to launch critical products for the Confluent. You will be responsible for further defining the vision, growing and coaching the team, and planning and driving cross-team efforts to solve complex distributed system challenges at scale.

What You Will Do:

• Own the overall strategy and execution for the Product Security’s Product Engineering team.
• Work closely with product management, engineering leadership, and other key stakeholders across various teams in Confluent and Confluent Cloud to build and drive the overall roadmap.
• Deliver high impact to the business by driving important technical, product and strategic initiatives in areas comprising (but not limited to) the Data Streaming Platform, security, reliability, architectural direction, and major component refactor across organizational boundaries.
• Work with engineering teams and product on critical aspects of product definition, security, API design, and delivery.
• Influence the overall security, health and operational hygiene for the Product Security Platform.

What You Will Bring:

• 12+ years of experience in software development and 7+ years in management.
• Experience designing resilient systems at scale, in the three major CSPs (AWS, Azure, GCP), with a proven track record of “seeing around corners” to reduce complexity and create critical enduring technical foundations.
• Ability to influence the team, peers, and upper management using effective communication and collaborative techniques.
• Ability to hire while ensuring a high hiring bar, keep engineers motivated, coach/mentor, and handle performance management.
• A great track record of timely shipping features and have a sense of urgency, an aggressive mindset towards achieving results, and excellent prioritization skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
