Job description

We are working with one of the world’s leading names in games outsourcing.

They are seeking a talented and experienced UK based Lead VFX Artist to help establish and oversee a new VFX department based in Asia.

As the Lead VFX Artist, you will be working closely with UK-based clients (AAA calibre game projects) and help grow and manage the VFX team remotely.


Responsibilities

  1. Team Setup and Management:
    o Collaborate with senior management to establish and build a new VFX team in India,
    ensuring the recruitment and selection of skilled artists.
    o Set clear goals and objectives for the VFX team and provide ongoing mentorship and
    guidance to team members.
    o Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting creativity, innovation,
    and professional growth within the team.
    o Effectively manage the performance, productivity, and workload distribution of the VFX
    team, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  2. Project Planning and Execution:
    o Collaborate with clients and project managers to understand project requirements,
    objectives, and constraints.
    o Work with the Project Managers to develop VFX production plans, including resource
    allocation, task assignment, and production schedules.
    o Oversee the creation and implementation of VFX assets, ensuring they meet the
    technical and artistic requirements of each project.
    o Provide hands-on support and assistance to the VFX team during production,
    troubleshooting technical issues, and offering creative solutions.
    o Conduct regular reviews and quality checks of VFX assets to maintain the highest
    standards of visual quality.
  3. Collaboration and Communication:
    o Work closely with the UK-based clients, understanding their vision and expectations,
    and providing regular updates on project progress.
    o Act as the primary point of contact between the UK-based clients and the India-based
    VFX team, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  4. Research and Development:
    o Stay updated with the latest industry trends, techniques, and tools related to VFX in
    video games.
    o Lead the research and development efforts within the VFX team, exploring new
    technologies and workflows to enhance the quality and efficiency of VFX production.
    Requirements
  • Proven experience as a VFX Artist in the video game industry, with a strong portfolio
    showcasing high-quality VFX work.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or management role, overseeing a team of artists.
  • Excellent knowledge of VFX software such as Autodesk Maya, Houdini, and Adobe After Effects.
  • Proficient in real-time VFX techniques, particle systems, shaders, and rendering.
  • Strong understanding of art and animation principles, color theory, and composition.
  • Familiarity with game engines, such as Unity or Unreal Engine, and their integration with VFX.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear feedback
    and guidance to team members.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work effectively in a remote team environment.
