Job description

We are seeking a talented PLC/SCADA Engineer with a unique blend of skills in industrial automation, SCADA systems, and application development, coupled with a basic understanding of databases and cloud. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems while leveraging application development expertise to enhance automation solutions and diagnose integration issues in the deployed landscape.

Responsibilities:
PLC/SCADA Package/Platform Deployment and Development:
  • Design, program, and implement PLC and SCADA systems for industrial automation projects or support selected vendors for the same.
  • Develop and maintain HMI (Human-Machine Interface) screens for intuitive control and monitoring.
Application Development:
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python, C#, or Java to enhance automation solutions and integrate with existing systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to develop custom applications for specialized industrial processes with a specific focus on the requirements of the Application Owner.
  • Maintain compliance-relevant documentation for deployment, changes, and retirement of systems.
SQL Database or Cloud Integration:
  • Integrate PLC/SCADA systems with SQL databases or cloud to store and retrieve real-time and historical data.
  • Design and optimize queries for efficient data retrieval and reporting.
  • Design and implement basic reports.
System Troubleshooting and Optimization:
  • Analyse and troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, and application-related issues, implementing effective solutions.
  • Maintain compliance-relevant documentation.
Documentation and Training:
  • Create and maintain comprehensive and compliance-relevant documentation for PLC/SCADA configurations, application code, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Provide support to internal teams for efficient system operation and maintenance.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with automation engineers, control system integrators, their vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of control systems.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients to gather requirements, provide project updates, and keep affected end-users appraised of the status of issue resolution.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as a PLC/SCADA Engineer with a focus on industrial automation.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as ladder logic, Structured Text, Python, C#, or Java.
  • Basic understanding of SQL for database design, integration, and queries.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC) and hardware (PLC controllers, handheld scanners, AR/VR devices).
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyse complex automation issues.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment.
