Job Scope

The Director of Marketing, CMF & Chest Wall owns strategic and tactical downstream marketing activities for the CMF & Chest Wall Business. The Director of Marketing, CMF & Chest Wall will own the product portfolios, including the management of product vision, portfolio strategy, go to market strategies, demand generation activities and strategic programs. They will set short-, mid-, and long-term market and commercial goals and develop plans to meet these goals in collaboration with Sales, Management, Product Managers, Quality, Regulatory, and others. The Downstream Marketing Leader is responsible for defining, developing and implementing downstream marketing strategies and tactics required to drive sustained profitable revenue growth for their respective business. They will lead a team that works closely with sales, global marketing, medical education, and sales training to build and implement effective marketing strategies and drive commercial execution. Responsibilities span the development and execution of a commercial strategy for new products in existing markets, existing products into new markets, and facilitating product sales growth through a product’s end-of-life. They will develop winning go-to-market launch plans including marketing communications initiatives, post launch evaluation, including finding key drivers to improve product performance, and product obsolescence.  They own the financial forecasting, staffing, resourcing, and budgeting for the Product Manager group.  The Director of Marketing, CMF & Chest Wall will ensure portfolio strategy is aligned with overall corporate growth objectives. They will also be responsible for hiring, managing, developing, and coaching the Product Management team.

Responsible for defining, developing, and implementing the brand strategy for specific products, product lines, lines of business, or on a company-wide campaign basis. Applies consumer insights and market intelligence to the process of developing approaches to linking a brand identity to the company and its products. Collaborates with business functions, regions, and channels to understand their market needs and links brand positioning to maximize customer loyalty and connection to the product and company. Establishes and executes brand strategies and programs to achieve commercialization, profitability, business growth and market share objectives. Partners with cross-functional teams to lead brand planning efforts and develop brand personality in conjunction with marketing communications and product marketing teams.

This is a management position that contributes and achieves results through others. The role is responsible for managing subordinates in professional jobs or managing through subordinate managers / supervisors and achieves results through others, who are not direct reports. The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding in multiple disciplines relevant to the business. The job is expected to establish strategic plans and/or operational programs that require a sound understanding of the underlying theories underpinning the subject area. The job has full management responsibility including the management of numerous teams of managers/professionals, planning for the teams' future needs and operations. There will be financial accountability for independent budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Defines the product vision, strategy and roadmap of all product initiatives within the business. Specifies market requirements, roadmap and product definitions for current and future iterations.
  • Achieves revenue goals by developing strategies and programs to increase the adoption of on-market products and to optimize the launch of new products through oversight of Product Management. 
  • Provides leadership and coaching to employees; furnishes them with the resources, tools, and uniform processes to grow their respective product portfolios.
  • Identifies and engages current and future Key Opinion Leaders. Build surgeon network to obtain VOC input.  Build strong relationships with BU upstream marketing leader and KOLs
  • Balances Acumed’s strategic goals with long-term market trends and opportunities and ensures each product and strategy within the portfolio meets the voice of the customer.
  • Directs Product Managers in developing long-range strategic plans and assists in the launch planning of products to fulfill the long-term portfolio vision.
  • Oversees global market and industry analysis including the collection and analysis of market trends, market share, sales trends, competitive landscape and customer needs. Advises Product Managers of trends in the marketplace when suggesting new products or product enhancements.
  • Develops comprehensive marketing plans that include value proposition, messaging, key claims, customer segmentation and targeting, pricing strategy and evidence-based strategy
  • Guides Product Managers in preparing long range, annual, and quarterly forecasts for each product within the portfolio.  Reviews product line forecast with key internal stakeholders and builds strategies to meet expectations set within the product line forecast. 
  • Ensures all team members maintain understanding, knowledge, and compliance with AdvaMed Code of Conduct related to HCP interactions.
  • Responsible for group resource allocation for travel, internal projects, tradeshows, and training events.
  • Creates and manages Product Management Selling, General, & Administrative budget and product P&L.
  • In conjunction with Sales Management, develops and manages sales budget for product lines through SAP and reports on monthly basis. 
  • Participates in conventions and professional exhibitions to develop and maintain customer relationships and to maintain current awareness of product requirements and new market opportunities.
  • Manages feedback from field regarding Acumed products and ensures data is entered into product feedback database and Acumed’s complaint system.
  • Conduct regular field visits to maintain a first-hand understanding of the market, customer and sales teams.
  • Recruit, engage, develop, and direct activities of a team of Product Managers.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in product management, product marketing, or related field required, MBA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of product management and/or sales experience required including prior leadership experience
  • 3-5 years of medical device sales or marketing experience, preferably in orthopedics
  • Excellent coaching, communication and proven persuasion skills with ability to deliver innovative solutions and gain consensus through influence
  • Demonstrated strategic and analytical thinker with skills necessary to ensure design and draft to final review of documentation including requirements, stories, tasks, and timelines
  • Demonstrated experience with financial analysis, forecasting, and budget management
  • Demonstrated executive presence and ability to effectively engage internal and external audiences
  • Strong written and verbal communications with a strong aptitude for presenting thoughts and ideas to senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to mentor team members and guide a team towards successful completion of high-quality projects
  • Ability to accurately estimate projects with the business leaders and team members and deliver on time within scope
  • Strong organizational, planning, project management, problem resolution, communication, presentation, facilitation and leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills, and strong project management, leadership, and team building skills
  • Role model leader with exceptional personal credibility and proven ability to establish strong relationships and rapport with business leaders and colleagues.
  • Solid understanding of global healthcare policies, trends and compliance issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Target Compensation: $185,000.00 - $225,000.00

166,400.00 - 249,600.00
