Job description

Overview

The VP, Commercial Portfolio Strategy will be responsible for playing a key role in the commercial strategy development of Iovance’s pipeline assets to ensure maximum commercial viability and return on investment. This role and future department members will oversee the selection of tumor targets to pursue, indications, launch markets and commercial strategies to ensure the assets meet the unmet medical need and deliver optimal future revenue for Iovance.  The VP will be responsible for shaping the product strategy for these assets as well as building a global commercialization approach.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the product strategy for asset management and build pathway to commercialization. 
  • Create the roadmap to commercialization for our pipeline cell therapy including commercial strategy, supply strategy, and building a global footprint. 
  • Shape the portfolio strategy for Iovance assets including accelerating new targets and corresponding markets. 
  • Develop a framework for Go/No-Go decision making which includes robust commercial input, benchmarking other companies in the industry 
  • Develop and lead portfolio prioritization, forecasting, and opportunity assessment as the leader of commercial value of pre-approved assets. 
  • Early commercial input to recommend signal-finding studies that will support future registrational trials across the enterprise 
  • Assess signal-finding studies and ISTs to ensure potential alignment and support of future registrational trials 
  • Provide full commercial assessments and recommendations to support Go/No-Go Decisions on registrational trials.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Sr Vice President of Project Management, Clinical leads, SVP Medical Affairs, and key functions to shape timelines, clinical trial design, development operations, and publication strategies. 
  • Partner with Clinical Development and PDTs to align timelines for regulatory approval based on interim/final analyses and accelerated/regular approval by region (US, EMA, etc.) for all registrational trials 
  • Build the external communications approach for the TIL platform, targeted tumors and markets (e.g., IR, science story). 
  • Monitor competitive intelligence and define differentiation strategy for in vivo editing. 
  • Provide commercial input (assessments, forecasts) into Business Development activities
  • Must adhere to Iovance Biotherapeutics’ core values, policies, procedures, and business ethics.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Required Education, Skills, and Knowledge

  • BS/BA in a relevant academic field required; Advanced degree (MBA, MD, PhD, or other graduate degree) strongly preferred 
  • 10 -15+ years’ experience within the pharma/biotech/biopharma space in roles of progressively increasing responsibility 
  • Extensive experience and track record with product strategy and commercial development with innovative medicines required. 
  • Oncology, cell and gene therapy, and/ or rare disease experience
  • Proven track record in cross-functional leadership role or other cross-disciplinary background with successful team leadership experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams without direct reporting responsibility
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and collaborative nature with strong ability to influence, motivate, inspire, encourage and develop others. 
  • Driven by patient needs and comfortable operating in a highly scientific and technical environment while dealing with ambiguity. 
  • Strong collaboration, decision-making and conflict management skills with demonstrated proficiency. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong formal presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific information in an understandable manner. 
  • Sophisticated understanding of the evolving scientific, clinical, regulatory, competitive, and economic trends impacting the industry, and able to adapt operational strategies accordingly. 
  • Experience in both large and small company environments a plus.
