Overview
The Sr. Category Analyst will be responsible for supporting Spend Management, Category Strategy Development, Supplier Relationship Management, Sourcing, Contract Management and Business Partner Engagement for all direct and indirect materials and services used in cell therapy development and manufacturing at Iovance. The individual will develop and support strategic sourcing strategies and plans aligned with business goals, conduct research and perform spend management, develop supplier base, monitor, evaluate and improve supplier performance, manage critical supplier agreements and ensure that products, services and vendor relationships are in the best interest of the company.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Develop the implementation plan for a specific sub-category or sub-categories of spend (direct and indirect materials and services for clinical and commercial manufacturing, packaging, co-therapy drugs) to effectively meet business partner requirements and deliver maximum value to the organization.
- Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to understand and operationalize their short- and long-term requirements and develop appropriate sourcing strategies.
- Analyze category spend to identify sourcing opportunities and develop category strategies.
- Work collaboratively with the buying/planning team to understand demand and ensure supply of direct and indirect materials with no supply interruptions. Support supplier-initiated change projects and monitor inventory transition during supplier changes.
- Draft and conduct requests for proposals, quotes, information (RFXs) and competitive bids. Evaluate and analyze results and provide recommendations to support sourcing decisions.
- Draft and review contract terms and develop negotiation tactics and strategies.
- Collaborate with legal to secure the best contractual terms protecting Iovance’s intellectual property and securing goods and services.
- Effectively utilize strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management processes to achieve continuity of supply of raw materials, goods and services, reduce total cost of ownership, and improve supplier service level.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to identify supplier risks and identify and implement strategies to mitigate including supporting alternate material/supplier identification, selection and onboarding.
- Ensure all sourcing requests are executed in line with the business strategies and in compliance with relevant policies and procedures, including preferred vendor programs, legal and quality agreements.
- Develop deep supplier relationships with strategic suppliers to support data review and analysis, periodic business reviews, performance metrics and management and improvement of end-to-end value, including quality, reliability, innovation and cost.
- Utilize internal & external resources & data sources to identify benchmarks. Establish processes and metrics to measure effectiveness of supplier base.
- Work cross functionally with Quality and Manufacturing teams to monitor and communicate supplier performance against established metrics, identify issues and work to implement corrective actions.
- Collect and utilize market intelligence to identify opportunities and collaborate internally and externally to identify leverage points.
- Work closely with Finance and other functions to track, analyze and report on Cost Improvement Projects (CIPs) and/or Cost of Goods improvement programs.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by supply chain leadership.
Travel
- Occasional travel may be required, once per quarter.
Required Education, Skills, and Knowledge
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- At least 3 years of procurement/strategic sourcing experience in the biotech field is required. Experience in Cell Therapy is preferred.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, cGMP standards, compliance and pharmaceutical and/ or biotechnology process is required.
- High level of proficiency with core Sourcing and Procurement skills (e.g., spend management, category management, , supply market analysis, supplier management and performance, contract management and negotiations, procurement excellence, etc.).
- Ability to perform data analysis, show strategic thinking, strong project management and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship management, organizational and communication skills
- Must have a strong work ethic, self-starter, ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and deal with conflicting and changing priorities, while ensuring the organization can effectively and efficiently move through transitions.
- Proficient with systems, including MS Office, MS Project, ERP

Work Environment
This job works in a professional office environment and a manufacturing lab setting. Potential exposure to latex, bleach, loud noise, lab equipment hazards, strong odors, and chemical/biochemical is possible. Requires operating standard office equipment and keyboards.
