What is the focus of the role?
The Senior Retail Strategy Product Specialist is part of the broader Retail Product & Category Management Team and is responsible for contributing to the overall Retail product strategy and execution of this E2E operating model across Telstra’s National Branded Retail network of over 250 stores.
Reporting to the Senior Retail Strategy Product Lead, they will contribute to the short and long-term plan through strategic deep-dives, and work closely with the broader Telstra business, including Retail Operations, Consumer Segments, Retail Experience and store teams, to execute this strategy.
A large part of the role will encompass understanding customer needs and target markets, to develop Retail Product CVPS and localised offerings that provide the customer with the right products, at the right time, and recognise the diverse needs of telco customers in Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the overall development of Telstra's Retail Product strategy, aligned to the broader Retail strategic and business priorities.
- Leverage strong analytical abilities to evaluate market and consumer trends, synthesise findings into actionable insights, aligned with business goals.
- Understand Retail performance and productivity drivers, to effectively size commercial benefits and prioritise opportunities.
- Deliver transformational product changes across key initiatives, ranging from test and learn pilots to multi-year programs of work.
- Contribute to annual planning processes and development of leadership/Board level recommendations as required.
- Maximise revenue, gross margin, productivity and product customer experience through initiatives that factor the end-to-end Retail product operating model.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops with frontline, customers and business teams as required to develop detailed requirements.
- Development of detailed product requirements that can be leveraged by IT and other project teams to assist in delivery of product strategy.
- Change expert – craft compelling narratives for customers and frontline teams, whilst ensuring initiatives are successfully embedded.
- Leverage human-centred design and design thinking principles to deliver customer focused product strategies, incorporating personas and voice-of-customer.
- Stay up to date with leading industry and market best practices to bring to life new ways and technologies to deliver business operations solutions for the business.
- Ability to work in a highly matrix environment to deliver change, influencing key stakeholders to ensure alignment of strategies and outcomes.
About you
To be successful in the role, you'll have:
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Retail Product or similar product strategy/transformation role.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Commerce, Business or similar field.
- Highly desirable: Experience in Telecommunications, either globally or in Australia.
