Job description

A Day in the Life and the Impact You’ll Make:

The Director of Technical Sales is responsible for leading the technical sales strategy, ensuring that technology solutions align with customer needs, and driving revenue growth through technical pre-sales engagement. This role requires a blend of sales expertise, technical knowledge, and leadership skills to manage teams, foster client relationships, and collaborate with internal stakeholders.

 

What You’ll Do:

Strategic Leadership and Management

  • Define and implement strategic goals aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Develop and execute executive-level policies and strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members.
  • Monitor project progress, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning by facilitating training and supporting team members' technical skill development.

 

Technical Pre-Sales & customer engagement

  • Engage with clients to understand their technical requirements and business challenges.
  • Work with engineering and product teams to design and propose tailored IT solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, translating complex technical concepts into business value.
  • Support contract negotiations and ensure the alignment of technical capabilities with client needs.

 

Stakeholder Management and Business Development

  • Serve as a liaison between multidisciplinary business areas and stakeholders.
  • Identify and understand client needs to develop new services that meet market demands.
  • Manage budgets and communicate service benefits and performance.
  • Participate in industry working groups and represent the company and clients with key stakeholders, entities, and organizations.

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in technical sales, pre-sales engineering, or a similar role.
  • Experience in IT, cybersecurity, cloud, SaaS, or enterprise software industries.
  • Strong network within the IT and technology sector.
  • Proven competency in problem management, including classification, prioritization, root cause analysis, and remediation.
  • Advanced skills in team leadership, budgeting, and resource optimization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong aptitude for teamwork and collaboration.
  • Goal-oriented mindset with a passion for learning in dynamic environments.
  • Determined and passionate approach to work with a keen eye for detail.

 

Physical Considerations:

  • Ability to move and conduct work with full range of motion.
  • Ability to lift 25-50lbs (luggage).
  • Extended periods of computer-based work.

 

Travel Considerations:

  • Estimated 10% domestic travel.

Compensation: 

DEKRA North America’s compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.  The base pay for this position ranges from $102,600 annually in our lowest geographic market up to $156,000 annually in our highest geographic market.  Actual pay is based on several factors including market location and position-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
