Job description

Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join us as a Financial Reporting Analyst!

About The Role

As a Financial Reporting Analyst, you will focus on cash and suspense accounts reconciliation, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining accurate reports. You will work closely with teams to enhance cash flow processes. With a proactive approach and strong analytical skills, you will take ownership of tasks, work independently, and drive improvements to ensure timely delivery of results.

What You Will Do

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cash reconciliations, ensuring accuracy between internal records and bank statements
  • Monitor and track discrepancies in cash flow, investigating and resolving any variances in a timely manner.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial closing processes, ensuring all transactions, journal entries and reconciliations are properly performed
  • Collaborate with the Treasury team to provide support related to unclaimed properties
  • Prepare audit support documentations and collaborate with auditors on cash related audit
  • Identify process improvements and implement best practices for cash reconciliation procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support other functions within the team as necessary.

Compensation

Salary Range: $64,200 - $106,900 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

Who You Are

  • High School Diploma required, BA/BS in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Relevant work experience in accounting and finance; cash reconciliation experience a plus
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel required, experience with Lawson, Hyperion, Cadency a plus
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership over assigned tasks, ensuring timely and accurate completion of deliverables
  • Curious and eager to learn, with a mindset focused on finding better ways of performing cash reconciliation and financial reporting tasks
  • Strong ability to resolve issues with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and sound judgment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
