Job Description

As an AU Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for a wide range of day-to-day financial operations and month-end activities, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and supporting strategic decision-making. Key responsibilities include:
  • Daily bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
  • Managing accounts payable and preparing payment files.
  • Supporting accounts receivable processes when needed.
  • Processing payroll and superannuation payments.
  • Preparing payroll tax (training can be provided).
  • Preparing and lodging monthly IAS and BAS.
  • Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Liaising with the ATO, banks, insurers, and work-cover as needed.
  • Assisting with audit requests and supporting ad-hoc financial projects.
  • Collaborating closely with the Finance Manager to ensure timely reporting and compliance.


Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a Financial Accounting role supporting Australian clients.
  • Experience working for an Australian Client/Business is required.
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent business experience).
  • CA/CPA qualified or actively working towards certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software like Xero.
  • Competence with cloud-based tools (e.g., Google Suite).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to liaise confidently with external stakeholders (e.g., ATO, banks).
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Experience working in the education or training sector.
    • Familiarity with audit processes and financial project support.
