Job Description
As an AU Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for a wide range of day-to-day financial operations and month-end activities, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and supporting strategic decision-making. Key responsibilities include:
Daily bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
Managing accounts payable and preparing payment files.
Supporting accounts receivable processes when needed.
Processing payroll and superannuation payments.
Preparing payroll tax (training can be provided).
Preparing and lodging monthly IAS and BAS.
Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register.
Liaising with the ATO, banks, insurers, and work-cover as needed.
Assisting with audit requests and supporting ad-hoc financial projects.
Collaborating closely with the Finance Manager to ensure timely reporting and compliance.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a Financial Accounting role supporting Australian clients.
Experience working for an Australian Client/Business is required.
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent business experience).
CA/CPA qualified or actively working towards certification.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software like Xero.
Competence with cloud-based tools (e.g., Google Suite).
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Clear communication skills and the ability to liaise confidently with external stakeholders (e.g., ATO, banks).
Preferred Experience:
Experience working in the education or training sector.
Familiarity with audit processes and financial project support.
