Description

WHO WE ARE

Come join the company reinventing data security, empowering businesses to realize the full potential of their data. As the leading data security platform purpose-built for the cloud era, Cyera’s mission is to reinvent how businesses secure data, enable agile collaboration, and boldly pursue new business opportunities. Trusted by security teams at leading global businesses, our team is proving that data security is the next big thing in cyber. Backed by the world’s leading investors and working with a large and growing list of Fortune 1000 companies, we are looking for world-class talent to join us as we usher in the new era of data security.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As Senior Commercial Counsel at Cyera, you’ll take ownership of a broad range of complex legal, business, and strategic matters. As an individual contributor within our growing Legal team, you’ll play a key role in building out our Supplier and GTM Legal function. Your primary focus will be partnering with internal stakeholders to structure, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of vendor agreements. You’ll also be a critical member of a cross-functional team working to scale and optimize our vendor contracting processes as Cyera continues to grow.

At Cyera, we’re a lean, fast-moving team - so your contributions will make an immediate impact, and the opportunities for growth are both real and plentiful. Reporting directly to the Director of Legal, you’ll play a key role in helping us scale. We're looking for an attorney who can thoughtfully balance legal risk with business priorities, thrives in close collaboration with legal and cross-functional partners, and brings a positive, solution-oriented mindset. If you’re a creative problem-solver who embraces a fast pace and a can-do attitude, you’ll fit right in at Cyera.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of agreements, including MSAs, SaaS contracts, marketing and technology agreements, sponsorships, vendor agreements and more.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives by developing and refining legal templates, playbooks, and scalable processes.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on complex commercial matters, with a focus on intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner closely with teams across the business—including Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Product, and Engineering—to resolve contract issues in alignment with Cyera’s standards, while delivering pragmatic, business-oriented solutions.
  • Effectively translate legal concepts into clear, concise, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders.
  • Take on a variety of legal projects as needed to support Cyera’s fast-paced growth and evolving business priorities.
  • Advise on privacy and data protection frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and related global regulations.
  • Stay current on emerging areas such as AI regulation and compliance, incorporating relevant terms into contracting strategy.
  • Contribute to improvements in contract management systems, workflows, and legal operations

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • JD degree with admission to at least one U.S. state bar in good standing.
  • 5+ years of experience, with a strong background in commercial law and technology transactions—ideally in-house at a fast-paced tech company.
  • Proven ability to independently draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements without a playbook.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and concisely.
  • A proactive team player who thrives on collaboration, creative problem-solving, and a business-minded approach to legal issues.
  • Comfortable working at speed and delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This position can be based anywhere in the US, either fully remote or in one of our offices, with a strong preference for candidates who can work from our NYC office a few times a week

COMPENSATION INFORMATION:
