Social Media Specialist

Mukuru is a purpose-driven, fast-paced organisation, rapidly expanding within the fintech sector. We are looking for a talented and passionate Social Media Specialist to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a growth-focused environment and make a meaningful impact by enhancing engagement on our social media platforms to expand our customer base. As part of the Digital Marketing team, you will play a key role in the creation and execution of social media strategies, working closely with various departments to drive our brand’s online presence.

Key Performance Areas/Capabilities

ROLE OBJECTIVES (Describe the specific end results required to be successful in the job)

  1. Create Content Strategies for Social Media Platforms Aligned to Overall Digital Marketing Strategy

    • Initiate and execute creative content strategies that align with the Mukuru brand.

    • Copywriting of all social media posts according to the brand guidelines.

    • Conduct social media market research analysis to identify trends, popular topics, market opportunities, or competitor performance.

    • Assist in developing social media transaction or security policies.

    • Stay updated on government regulations and emerging web technologies to ensure regulatory compliance, engaging in educational programs, attending workshops, or participating in professional organizations and conferences.

    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the digital marketing function through social platforms.

    • Collaborate with marketing teams to integrate and complement marketing strategies across multiple social media platforms.

    • Participate in the development and implementation of the online marketing strategy, with overall responsibility for social media implementation.

    • Optimize social media activities through analysis, experimentation, and optimization tests using approved methods.

    • Work closely with the social media performance marketing agency to brief and manage paid media campaigns.

  2. To Plan For and Monitor the Ongoing Presence on Social Media in Order to Grow the Market Base

    • Identify appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and report key metrics from social media activities.

    • Ensure positive social media sentiment and provide recommendations to improve or tweak strategies as necessary.

    • Set up and optimize analytics tools to track visitor behavior on social channels.

    • Manage tracking and reporting of social media activities on all platforms to provide analysis and insights to key stakeholders.

    • Conduct financial modeling, tracking, and reporting for social media marketing programs.

    • Plan, design, and execute social media competitions, ensuring all aspects (from planning to sign off) are carried out effectively.

  3. To Provide Social Media Specialist Guidance and Support to the Marketing Team

    • Evaluate emerging media or technologies and recommend their application within social media campaigns.

    • Identify, evaluate, and propose procurement of hardware or software for social media marketing initiatives.

    • Propose online or social media channel campaigns to marketing leaders.

    • Collaborate with web, IT, service providers, and graphic design teams to create multimedia content that aligns with the brand’s visual format.

    • Contribute to the identification and development of commercial or technical specifications to promote transactional internet-enabled functionality, informing social media marketing tactics.

    • Execute and manage social media campaigns or promotional strategies, collaborating with sales, operations, and other key stakeholders.

    • Assist in the evaluation and negotiation of contracts with vendors or online partners.

    • Evaluate marketing campaigns based on briefs and create a suitable brief for the design team to execute on appropriate social media channels.

  4. To Manage Own Professional and Self-Development

    • Attend monthly KPI discussions with the Digital Marketing Manager.

    • Participate in bi-annual performance meetings with the Digital Marketing Manager.

    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current social media marketing methodologies and practices.

    • Stay informed about developments within the money transfer service industry.

    • Keep updated on new product and partner launches.
