Sr. Business Manager

Your role:

As Sr. Business Manager, Emerging Nutrition, you will primarily be responsible for leading EN’s products and ingredients (except intact pulses) with defined P&L responsibility and accountability 

You will be responsible for driving end-to-end daily business execution related to the product line to meet near-term and medium-term P&L targets.  This includes decision making and workflow coordination  

You will support the Commercial Director, EN Ingredients and the broader Ardent Mills organization in identifying and pursuing build/buy/partner opportunities to add capabilities needed to position the product line for growth

You will support value-added sales growth by partnering with the broader Ardent Mills organization to commercialize new products and meet future PL targets

Your responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the product line P&L and associated project management / oversight requirements. This includes identifying customer, partner or investment opportunities to enhance revenue / sales across those products while overseeing the profitable delivery of finished goods to customers
  • Advance broader EN strategy by building the product line annual Business Plans and execution strategies that you will be accountable for while working with the cross-functional teams to execute
  • Establish internal and external thought leadership and knowledge with regards to EN products and ingredients (except intact pulses) and it’s associated PL and market (Who to go to for what, business outlook, risks and opportunities, ingredient application and uses, competitive market dynamics, customer and consumer dynamics, ingredient application and uses)
  • Facilitate cross-functional interconnectivity specific to your product line to ensure strategic alignment, performance, accountability, and optimal PL outcomes
  • Maximize broader organizational synergies through effective management of matrixed relationships on a day-to-day basis with dedicated Emerging Nutrition Group personnel across the broader cross-functional teams (e.g., Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Quality, Marketing, R&D, etc.), synthesizing key learning to share with the commercial director and VP, EN
  • Support Commercial director in identifying, and justifying resourcing adjustments needed to achieve annual and medium-term business plans.  Includes, FTE investment requirements, equipment needs, tools and technology resources. 
  • Drive product-level initiatives (e.g., technical milling projects) and advocate for critical projects needed to support achievement of product line financial plans. 
  • Track live initiative progress, ensuring impacts are captured in forecasts and annual/medium-term business plans.
  • Support Marketing and R&D organizations as Ardent Mills plans for and realizes future portfolio innovation, partnering closely with Commercial Director, EN Ingredients to ensure the broader functional teams are best prepared to profitably execute on future innovation
  • Work closely with other Emerging Nutrition team members to deliver on the overall mission and aspiration of the Emerging Nutrition business unit as well as Ardent Mills more broadly

Essential skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of experience advancing initiatives and workstreams with cross-functional teams 
  • Customer discovery experience – experience working with qualitative customer feedback, stories, and customer data to inform decisions 
  • Experience using data to make decisions  
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal), presentation and negotiation skills 
  • Very strong interpersonal skills including relationship-building and collaboration with people from different disciplines 
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work in an ever-changing fast paced environment 
  • Practical understanding / experience in the milling or ingredients industry

 Good to Have:

  • Operational experience and knowledge of relevant product(s)
  • P&L ownership experience
  • Experience managing in a matrixed organization
  • Experience working with ingredients R&D and applications science teams

Other Considerations:

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally infrequently (less than approximately 20% of the time.)
  • This position can be Remote.

Competitive Compensation:

We provide market-driven base pay, based on skills, abilities, and level of experiences. Our salary ranges are broad, and individual salary will be market competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of skills and level of experience. The starting range for this position is $118,000.00 - $157,489.20, with additional earning potential possible commensurate with experience. Additionally, we believe that our team members are the reason for our success and all team members are incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and individual results achieved. While the specific bonus plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions, the targeted bonus plan and targeted percentage amount for this role is Bonus - MIP, 15% Annual.
