Virtual Farsi Tutor and Mentor

$29-$33 hourly rate; rates are negotiable and subject to change
This job is fully remote, 1099 contract
Schedule: Based on student availability; likely after school and evening hours
Must complete the Live Scan fingerprinting process prior to assignment placement

Fullmind is looking for Farsi-speaking individuals from Afghanistan or neighboring countries who have experiences living in the U.S. Ideal candidates are pursuing higher education and have experience navigating the U.S. education system. While they may not have the same recent experiences as the students, they can offer valuable insights on navigating the U.S. education system, along with academic and language support.

As a Fullmind Mentoring Tutor, you will:

• Build Relationships & Trust – Create a welcoming space by sharing your experiences and helping students adjust to the U.S. education system.
• Provide Academic Support – Tutor students in ELA and Math, focusing on English language learning, homework help, and study strategies.
• Mentor & Guide – Offer weekly or biweekly sessions tailored to students’ academic and personal development needs.
• Encourage Engagement – Lead tutoring sessions that promote learning, and support cultural and social adaptation.
• Support Growth Beyond Tutoring – Participate in workshops on study skills, college readiness, and parental engagement to enhance student success.
• Provide Culturally Competent Mentorship – Understand and support students through the challenges of adapting to a new education system.
• Create a Safe & Supportive Space – Foster a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable learning and growing.
• Receive Support -  Participate in resource meetings on utilizing student data to address instructional needs, support English language learners, and identify students requiring social work or mental health services

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Fluent in English as well as Farsi, and/or other languages identified as students enroll (potentially Pashto, Dari).
• Individuals who have successfully pursued higher education or careers in the U.S. and can provide guidance based on personal experience.
• Experience in academic tutoring.
• Laptop or desktop computer, webcam, headset, and reliable internet access
• Participate in a virtual skills demonstration + submit a background check as part of the application process
