Job description

Overview:

LMI is seeking a Senior Data Analytics & AI Engineering Lead to support the NASA Office of Inspector General (OIG) Office of Data Analytics (ODA) in modernizing its data infrastructure, analytics capabilities, and cloud environment. This role will play a key part in migrating ODA’s data analytics operations to a secure cloud environment, developing data automation and engineering solutions, and enhancing analytic capabilities for audits, investigations, and oversight activities. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills, with experience in data analytics, cloud migration, automation, dashboard development, and stakeholder engagement. This individual will also provide thought leadership on analytic tools, methodologies, and cloud strategies to inform ODA’s modernization roadmap and future-state vision.

Responsibilities:

Cloud Analytics Modernization & Data Engineering:

  • Provide technical leadership and strategy for NASA OIG ODA’s migration to a secure AWS cloud analytics environment, ensuring a scalable and efficient architecture.
  • Develop a modernization roadmap outlining key milestones, implementation scenarios, and tool recommendations.
  • Perform analysis of alternatives (AoA) on analytic tools, data environments, and implementation strategies.
  • Work closely with NASA OIG IT teams, OCIO’s cloud team, and external partners to facilitate smooth integration and operation of analytics tools and environments.

Data Analytics, Automation, and Engineering:

  • Lead efforts to design, build, and operationalize data pipelines and automation workflows for enhanced data processing and reporting.
  • Support data acquisition efforts, working with NASA, OIG, and open-source data providers to ensure access to relevant datasets.
  • Implement data visualization and dashboard solutions (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to enable intuitive reporting for audits and investigations.
  • Oversee data governance, security, and compliance best practices for handling NASA OIG’s sensitive datasets.

Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Provide project management support to ODA DAIS, facilitating Agile sprint planning using Kanban boards and managing progress toward key deliverables.
  • Develop and present executive briefings, reports, and recommendations to ODA leadership, supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment between analytics capabilities and mission objectives.
  • Provide staffing recommendations and resource planning guidance, anticipating future skill needs as ODA’s modernization progresses.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data analytics, cloud infrastructure, automation, and engineering.
  • Experience migrating data analytics operations into cloud environments, particularly AWS.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or other data analytics/statistics programming languages.
  • Expertise in data visualization and dashboarding tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in federal government, auditing, or investigative analytics environments.


Preferred:

  • Knowledge of NASA’s cloud environment capabilities and best practices.
  • Experience in low-code/no-code automation solutions for workflow optimization.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CISSP, or PMP.
  • Experience supporting OIG, IG, law enforcement, or oversight agencies.

Target salary range: $95,348 - $167,812
