We’re looking to recruit a US-based Senior Legal Counsel into the Veeam Legal team. The successful candidate will provide support on a variety of legal matters, including labour and employment matters (both contentious and non-contentious) across multiple (a) jurisdictions through the US, Europe and Asia; general litigation support; the management of external counsel; and other corporate and regulatory matters. Significant expertise in software licensing and services, and cloud is essential. You will work directly with the existing legal team and internal clients, and you will be required to have strong interpersonal skills in order to manage internal teams and cross-functional support, and both external, and opposing counsel.

Responsibilities: 

  • Draft and review (a) job offers, (b) employment agreements, (c) termination letters, (d) separation agreements, and other legal documents related to employment law in the region of responsibility.
  • Provide Human Resources and other business partners with thoughtful legal perspective and guidance, as well as risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with litigation, pre-legal disputes and employment disputes that may arise in the region.
  • Manage employment forms, including periodic review and change processes.
  • Maintain relationships with outside counsel in various jurisdictions throughout the region.
  • Resolve legal issues and contract interpretation matters that arise in existing employment relationships.
  • Advise on immigration matters, including new hires, internal relocations, and maintaining right to work.
  • Anticipate problems and initiate actions to ensure employment issues are addressed efficiently.
  • Assist with legal support of efforts to expand business operations internationally.
  • Manage responding to queries in a timely manner and be able to accurately direct non legal queries to the relevant department.
  • Develop and deliver trainings for employees and executives on a variety of subjects within counsel’s areas of responsibility. 
Requirements:

  • 12-16 years’ experience as an attorney with a mix of significant law firm and in-house experience.
  • Tactful with strong external and internal negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exercise meticulous attention to detail and an organized approach to quickly identify problems and provide solutions.
  • Ability to be creative and flexible but with a focus on business-oriented outcomes. Commercial acumen is essential.
  • Highly developed written and oral communications skills, with the ability to clearly articulate recommendations and options about complex legal issues.
  • Highly collaborative and able to organize and manage projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn.
