As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in unlocking the power of our data to drive operational efficiency, inform strategic decisions, and improve patient outcomes.
What is the role?
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and analytic solutions within our Azure environment. You will leverage your expertise in Snowflake, dbt, ADF, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI to support our VBC initiatives and empower our team with actionable insights. Your deep understanding of healthcare data and regulations is essential for success in this role.

What will you do?
- This position will be a 6-months Contract or Contract-to-hire position, requiring 20-30 hours per week with possible evolvement to 40/week
- Data integration & ETL/ELT: Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and dbt.
- Data Warehousing: Architect and manage our Snowflake data warehouse, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity
- Analytics & Reporting: Develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric to provide key performance indicators and insights to stakeholders
- Azure Environment Management: Manage and optimize our Azure data infrastructure, including storage, compute, permissions, and networking resources
- Data Scripting: Maintain and update an Azure Function App to manage complex custom reporting tasks
- Data Transfer: Manage and integrate discrete sources, including Salesforce and SFTP, to coordinate data transfer between Nest and its vendor and partners
- CI/CD: Manage Azure DevOps releases and pipelines to ensure stable promotion of code and database resources
- Web APP Dev: Create and maintain SharePoint Web Parts and Azure Static Web Apps for both internal- and external- facing documentation
- Healthcare Data Expertise: Apply your understanding of healthcare data (e.g., claims, EHR, clinical data) and regulations (e.g., HIPPA) to ensure data accuracy and compliance
- Value- Based Care (VBC) Support: Build data solutions that support our VBC programs, including patient risk stratification, quality measurement, and cost analysis.
- Startup Environment: Contribute to various IT initiatives and adapt to the dynamic needs of a fast-paced startup
- Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and deliver effective solutions
- Data Governance: Implement and maintain data governance best practices to ensure data quality, security, and compliance
- Troubleshooting and Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and data quality issues
What do you bring to the Nest?
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake or other SQL/NoSQL cloud-based engines
- Minimum of 2 years of hands- on experience with dbt or other SQL source control solutions
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) or other ETL/ELT solutions
- Minimum of 2 years of hands- on experience with Power BI or other BI tools
- Strong proficiency in SQL and JavaScript
- Extensive experience with Azure cloud services
- Deep understanding of healthcare data and regulations
- Excelling problem- solving and communication skills
- Must be based in the United States
- SnowPro certifications preferred
- Power BI certifications preferred
- Experience with data modeling and data warehousing principles preferred
- Experience with healthcare data interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR) preferred
- Experience with other Azure services preferred
- Experience with data security and compliance preferred
