About REBUILD.US

REBUILD.US, an initiative of the Amalgamated Foundation, is a soon to be launched rapid response fundraising initiative that aims to direct millions of dollars to the most effective organizations on the ground in areas hit by climate change disasters.

The underlying assumption behind REBUILD is that billions of dollars are channeled to charity in post disaster moments – mainly to large national and global charities. These funds are largely limited to the support of immediate response and relief periods, and don’t flow through local organizations that work in the community year round and know how to get help to where it's most needed, fast.  The funds are not used to address systemic problems that exacerbate the climate disasters such as housing and economic insecurity, fossil fuel, extractive land and water use, unjust immigration system, voter suppression etc.

REBUILD’s model allows trusted, local leaders and organizations to immediately help people in need while also working toward the necessary long term systemic solutions to transform our future.

The organization is in its pre-launch phase and is looking for a Program Associate to build out our internal operations, rapid response grantmaking, relationship building, and capacity.

JOB OVERVIEW

REBUILD.US seeks a Program Associate to join our small and growing team. Key responsibilities include contributing to the Fund’s grantmaking, cultivation of long-lasting relationships rooted in trust with organizations, creators, and donors – providing project management, events and meeting support, and administrative coordination to help ensure we are quickly responding to emergent issues and supporting our rapid response needs. We are seeking a joyful, flexible collaborator who brings a learning mindset and has familiarity with economic opportunity issues and/or grantmaking. As a rapidly growing new fund with an ambitious vision, all of our staff must be comfortable with change, bring a deep commitment to collaboration, and be a proactive self-starter.

  • Rapid response disaster support:
    • Provide clear and time sensitive channels of communication with on-the ground groups – making sure the process flows smoothly to move funds.
    • Collect real time updates in the form of quotes, anecdotes, videos, and pictures for fundraising purposes.
    • Closely communicate with Amalgamated staff to process and track rapid response grants.
  • Manage the grantmaking workflow and serve as a key contact to grantees:
