Salary Range:    $23.00 - $35.00 Hourly
Description

Pharmacists Mutual as an opening for a Compliance Specialist. The compliance specialist is an expert who researches and analyzes laws and regulations that impact our Company’s business objectives in order to help assure that the Company complies with those laws and regulations.  

Compliance Specialist I

  • Able to take direction from manager or senior team member.
  • Researches, analyzes, and leads compliance projects with assistance from leadership.

Compliance Specialist II

  • Requires limited direction from Manager.
  • Researches, analyzes and manages the more complex compliance projects with minimal direction and assistance from leadership.
  • May train and mentor others on compliance processes.

Essential Functions

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:    

  • Conducts research on laws and regulations affecting Company business and makes recommendations as needed.
  • Assures that the Company is in compliance with all laws and regulations.
  • Proactively monitors, analyzes and communicates new regulatory initiatives.
  • Assists with the preparation and filing of any required reports.
  • Conducts compliance reviews of Company advertising, communications, and policy associated output.
  • Prepares and trains employees to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Provides support and research for corporate counsel as needed.
  • Conducts compliance audits to assess adherence to compliance policies, state statutes and regulations.
  • Helps set agenda, gathers required documentation and uploads documents in preparation for Board of Director meetings.
  • Manages the process of obtaining and maintaining professional licenses, including verifying eligibility, processing application and renewals, and ensuring compliance with state regulations.

  • Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of compliance within an insurance Company.
  • Ability to use initiative and apply innovative thinking.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment through written and oral communication.
  • Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, vocabulary and punctuation.
  • Ability to work independently to make critical decisions and analyze complex issues.
  • Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of all goals and objectives.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations.
  • Obtain and utilize sensitive information discreetly and objectively.
  • Maintain records; prepare reports/correspondence related to the work.
  • Read, interpret, and input data efficiently and accurately.
  • Determine when to escalate concerns to the appropriate level of management.
  • Utilize computer and related software effectively.
Qualifications

Experience and Education Qualifications

Compliance Specialist I

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience; or
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent and 3 years of related experience; or
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Compliance Specialist II

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years of related experience; or
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent and 5 years of related experience; or
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of related experience; or
  • Master’s Degree

 

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certificates

  • Must have compliance experience within the banking or insurance industries

Preferred Qualifications

Compliance Specialist

  • One of the following designations: Associate in Regulation and Compliance (ARC), Associate Compliance Professional (ACP), Certified Compliance Professional (CCP), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
  • Paralegal certification        

Work Environment

  • Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting
  • Work may involve travel to attend meetings at other locations
