Job description

Responsibilities:

Noblis is seeking a skilled communications professional to support the Communications and Partner Engagements team for the Department of Defense’s installation innovation programs – the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) and the Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP). These programs develop and demonstrate innovative, scalable technologies that protect built and natural infrastructure, strengthen chemical and material resilience, and ensure the health and safety of our warfighters.

 

This position will work collaboratively across multiple teams to source and track notable research updates; develop a variety of written products for internal and external audiences; and address long- and short-term client needs related to strategic messaging. This position will report to and work closely with the Communications and Partner Engagements Manager and the Design Lead to provide communications support that aligns with the programs’ mission, vision, values, and strategies.

 

Tasks

  • Provide communications in support of DoD innovation programs:
    • Create, edit, and publish excellent written products, including web and social media content, talking points, one-pagers, briefings, and email announcements.
    • Support development of internal materials, including memos, presentations, strategic messaging, and impact reports to DoD leadership.
    • Support ongoing management of external communications channels and outreach efforts, including webinar series, website, and mailing list.
    • Maintain awareness and understanding of defense-related news to identify opportunities to elevate and inform program messaging.
  • Collaborate effectively within a large internal team:
    • Work collaboratively with other communications team members with expertise in design, events, and writing.
    • Build strong relationships with research portfolio teams across the programs.
    • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and problem-solving exercises to address client needs and develop solutions that further the programs’ mission, vision, values, and strategies.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education & Technical Skills: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field; experience with Excel and PowerPoint; stable internet connection.
  • Research & Writing Expertise: Outstanding research, writing, and editing skills, including sourcing content, interviewing experts, and translating scientific content for diverse audiences.
  • Project & Priority Management: Flexibility to handle multiple priorities, balancing ongoing responsibilities with quick-turn tasks, and effectively prioritizing with minimal oversight.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Excellent listening and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders at all levels and help clients define and execute strategic messaging.
  • Organizational & Strategic Thinking: Highly organized with strong attention to detail; creative, critical, and strategic thinker who is self-motivated and works well independently or as part of a team.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting federal clients, DoD preferred
  • Familiarity with AP Style
  • Familiarity with website content management systems and webinar platforms

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.


Posted Salary Range: USD $52,600.00 - USD $82,150.00 /Yr.
