Job Description:

IVANS Insurance Solutions, a division of Applied Systems, is currently searching for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our corporate Quality Engineering Organization. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of automated tests as we migrate to a microservices architecture. You will carry out various tasks to ensure our test approaches, both manually and automated, are effectively and efficiently designed, implemented, and maintained for both legacy and new development. You will leverage software engineering best practices to provide information, feedback, and expertise about software quality and development processes to deliver defect-free applications. You will work with a team of SDETs to ensure our test automation framework and platform is highly scalable and performant with a technical design that allows for future innovation without complete refactoring.

 

 What You'll Do

 

  • Exhibit strong hands-on knowledge in developing automated testing using modern software development and testing tools
  • Ensure automated test design adheres to the overall company architecture and quality assurance principles
  • Collaborate with team members across product, architecture, development, DevOps, and testing teams in designing automated testing approaches
  • Promote and support the implementation of CI/CT/CD pipeline
  • Exercise fundamental good software engineering practice when developing automated tests, such as design/code reviews
  • Maintain and enhance test automation frameworks for UI, Microservices & API
  • Able to provide in-depth analysis to resolve technical issues, anticipate risks and ensure timely management escalation
  • Provide automated test solutions to deliver for both functional and non-functional software quality
  • Work with stakeholders to plan, estimate & implement test automation strategies
  • Ensure compliance to automation framework, standards & best practices
  • Facilitate automated, on-demand test automation metrics
  • Maintain and update technical documentation relating to test architecture, design steps, integration processes, or procedures.
  • Participate in technical design meetings to ensure clear direction in areas of responsibilities
  • Maintain test automation and defect tech debts in a timely manner
  • Seek stakeholder feedback via test automation demos

What You’ll Need to Succeed 


We’re looking for someone who: 

  • Can work 100% remotely, or from an Applied Systems office

Your experience should include some or all of the following: 

 

  • 5+ years of experience working as a Software Test Engineer in a microservices environment and:
    • Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript.
    • Experience with any object-oriented programming languages such as C#, Python, Java, Ruby
    • Experience with SQL Server or other databases
  • Experience with automated testing, with UI and/or API layers, such as SOAP and REST/RESTful services.
  • Knowledge of common automated testing tools, such as Cypress (preferred) or Selenium
  • Knowledge software testing methodologies, techniques, and tools.
  • Ability to understand and construct modern test strategies and quality gating policies within CI/CT/CD pipelines
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, technology, or equivalent work experience

Additionally, you may have: 

 

  • Knowledge of performance testing tools like JMeter or K6.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Experience with JIRA or similar tools
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing, and related technologies, such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker
