Position Summary:
The role of the Senior Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Senior Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy and Planning:
- Responsible for managing the overall performance and delivery of complex, large/cross-functional projects that range up to $10M; including scope, schedule, risk, issues and budget.
- Define project scope, resourcing, budgets and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors/partners.
- Lead multiple cross-functional teams and subject matter experts to ensure successful delivery of projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Lead and manage Project/Program Steering Committee.
- Lead and manage proposals (RFPs) as applicable.
Operational Management:
- Lead detailed project planning, risk/issue management, stakeholder communication, governance, and compliance while strategically managing project portfolios.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential roadblocks to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
- Track and report team hours, costs and budget on a regular basis.
- Manage Vendors and related contracts.
- Reviews deliverables prepared by team for quality.
- Develop and maintain standard project artifacts - project plans, agendas, risks, action items lists and ensure established processes are followed.
- Ensure that issues and risks are identified, understood early and dealt with in a manner that mitigates surprises, risk to scope, cost, and schedule.
- Measure project results and monitor key performance indicators to ensure objectives are met.
- Creates and communicates status reporting at all levels.
- Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.

- Expert understanding of Project Management process/standards. Lead multiple, concurrent projects to completion; ability to manage time, resources and priorities; develop plans, work through adversity and consistently meet deadlines and produce effective results.
- Outstanding project, communication, and stakeholder management skills and abilities; strong financial management and risk/issue management. Consistently leads conversations regarding application interactions, design guidelines, and technical risks/issues associated with IT projects.
- Executive presence leading meetings and strategic discussions with Executive and Senior leadership teams, presentations to large groups of all levels (C-Level to staff).
- Ability to quickly assess complex situations/ problems and develop structure to enable team to deliver results; thrives in a fast paced and deadline driven environment; demonstrates the ability to quickly adjust to changes and redirect team and plan to meet new direction and business partner needs.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment including project team members, external vendors, consultants, etc.
- Provide clear and consistent communication of project status to stakeholders and business Stakeholders; develop and deliver executive-level communications and messages.
- Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of PMO processes.
- Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or relevant experience is required
- 7+ years’ project management experience managing technology projects, initiatives and implementations is a requirement
- Ability to travel up to 5%
- PMI, CSM or other project management certifications are a plus
- Advanced degree preferred
- Manufacturing or supply chain exposure is a benefit
- Experience with ServiceNow is a bonus
- Experience expanding a PMO function is very helpful, including tools, processes & templates
- Prior people leadership experience is a bonus
Knowledge and Skills:
- General understanding of information technology environments including infrastructure, systems and application software is highly desirable
- Excellent ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proven multi-tasking experience with a strong capability in dealing with ambiguity
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
- Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Project
