Job description

The Role


The CPG Trade Deductions Analyst manages and analyzes customer deductions and trade promotions while working under the Sr. Trade Spend Accountant in the Finance Department. This role ensures the timely and accurate investigation and resolution of deductions while collaborating with other MaryRuth’s teams such as Sales & Retail and Supply Chain. The Trade Deductions Analyst will need to leverage a strong background in trade spend management and deduction analysis within the CPG industry. This is a full-time (40 hr/wk), salary-exempt, remote position. The compensation range for this role is $25,000 - $30,000 USD/year.


Responsibilities


  • Timely research and review of customer deductions through cross functional collaboration with the Sales & Retail team and Supply Chain to determine validity of deductions.
  • Resolve invalid or unauthorized deductions by investigating and filing claims on customer portals and following up as necessary.
  • Interact with customers directly to request deduction backup and clarification on deductions taken.
  • Assist in applying deductions to the correct promotional event.
  • Act as backup for cash application and AR collections.
  • Ad-hoc reporting as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Some travel (<5%) may be required on an as needed basis, with advance notice provided to the employee.


Qualifications


  • 2+ years of CPG trade experience required.
  • Prior experience working with CPG distributors, specifically KeHE and UNFI, strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in customer (retailer) portals.
  • Thorough understanding of Order to Cash process.
  • Netsuite and TPM experience is preferred; experience with any ERP system is required.
  • Extremely detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in order to effectively partner with internal and external parties for issue resolution.


Physical Requirements


  • Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • This role involves sitting most of the time, but may also involve moving for brief periods of time.
