THE ROLE

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Sports Management Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sports administration, event coordination, program development, and operations within the youth sports industry.

Responsibilities

Event Coordination:

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and executing sports events, tournaments, and competitions.
  • Coordinate logistics, including venue booking, scheduling, equipment setup, and staffing.
  • Support on-site operations to ensure smooth event execution and exceptional participant experiences.

Program Development

  • Contribute ideas and insights for the development and enhancement of youth sports programs.
  • Assist in designing curriculum, lesson plans, and training materials to support player development.
  • Collaborate with coaches and instructors to evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative assistance, including data entry, filing, and record-keeping.
  • Assist in managing participant registrations, waivers, and other documentation.
  • Respond to inquiries from parents, athletes, and stakeholders regarding programs and services.

Marketing And Promotion

  • Support marketing efforts to promote programs, events, and registration opportunities.
  • Assist in creating promotional materials, including flyers, posters, and digital content.
  • Utilize social media platforms to engage with the community and increase awareness of Steel Sports initiatives.

Player And Coach Development

  • Assist in organizing coaching clinics, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Coordinate player evaluations, assessments, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Help facilitate communication between coaches, players, and parents to ensure a positive experience for all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn new software systems.
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program, pursuing a degree in sports management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to commit to a minimum of 20 per week for the duration of the internship.
  • Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions.
  • A commitment to improving conditions and providing opportunities for all youth.
  • Able to encounter challenges with a solution mindset and remain optimistic despite setbacks.
  • Has flexibility and adaptability in work style and in work environments.
  • Able to meet deadlines and complete tasks/projects on time.
  • Members must have access to consistently reliable transportation (if applicable).
