The Business Development and Customer Success Manager is responsible for identifying and engaging new business; as well ensuring optimal outcomes for existing customers, through a range of relational techniques that build rewarding, trusting and lasting partnerships. The key target audience includes organisations seeking funding, funding bodies and financial advisors / wealth managers.


In this pivotal role, reporting to the CEO/Founder and working closely with the Executive Team, you will play a crucial part in driving growth and success for Strategic Grants. Your primary focus will be on engaging with current markets and partners to effectively identify and onboard new customers, ensuring a seamless and efficient process.


Additionally, you will lead the coordination of attendance at networking and professional development events, identifying new partnership opportunities while strengthening existing relationships. This role also has the opportunity to deliver grant-seeker workshops, webinars and other training materials, and contribute to Strategic Grants blogs and social media posts. You will ensure all projects, records and notes are up-to-date in the online project management system and provide other administrative support required.

About YOU

  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a senior management team,
  • Excellent relationship management skills with high level interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong relationships with clients and prospective clients,
  • You excel at active listening and problem-solving, having the ability to hear challenges from prospective new customers and knowing what products and services will work for them,
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including copy writing and workshop presentation and facilitation skills,
  • A true team player, working collaboratively with colleagues and contributing to a positive and dynamic work environment,
  • Excel at researching and interpretation skills and have strong attention to detail,
  • Effective time-management and project-management skills and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines,
  • Have an aptitude for business development activities with an understanding of the not-for-profit sector and the need to seek funds through strategic fundraising activities and programs,
  • High-level understanding of databases and experience in data entry and reporting,
  • Have high levels of flexibility and versatility, demonstrating strong personal initiative and motivation,
  • A ‘self-starter’, with the ability to work autonomously and individually as required,
  • Can travel interstate on average once per month.


Strategic Grants offers a flexible working environment. The team works across various parts of Australia and New Zealand and embraces technology to work together through their virtual, dynamic office. This role will ideally be based in Sydney or Melbourne. Other locations can be considered.
