We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) specializing in Microsoft SQL Server to join our IT team. This role is responsible for ensuring the performance, security, and availability of databases, supporting mission-critical applications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize database solutions. The ideal candidate will have expertise in database administration, maintenance, production support, server upgrades, data warehousing, and on-call support (24x7).

Location: Remote

Salary : $85,000 - $90,000 Annual Salary

Schedule: 9AM – 4PM EST | Monday to Friday with On-Call every 3 rd week

Travel Requirement: 0-10% annual, based on potential meeting needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Provide 24x7 on-call support for database-related issues in a high-availability production environment.
  • Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and system resource management.
  • Develop and implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Plan and execute database and server upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
  • Implement security measures, including encryption, authentication, and auditing, to protect sensitive data.
  • Manage and optimize data warehouse solutions, ensuring efficient ETL processes and reporting capabilities.
  • Work closely with developers, system administrators, and business analysts to support application development and troubleshooting.
  • Develop scripts and automated processes to improve database administration efficiency.
  • Utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve performance and reliability issues.
  • Attend Project and Scrum Meetings through Video Calls as required.
  • The ability to adhere to Clarest’s Code of Conduct, follow Clarest Compliance policies and procedures, and report any suspected violations of any federal or state laws to either their direct supervisor, Human Resources or the Compliance Officer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Desired 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator in a production environment.

Skills + Abilities:

  • Expertise in SQL Server (2014/2016/2019/2022) installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of T-SQL scripting, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and indexing.
  • Experience with Always On Availability Groups, Clustering, and Replication.
  • Hands-on experience in database backup, restore, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Familiarity with Server monitoring tools and query optimization techniques.
  • In-depth understanding and experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS, highly desirable.
  • Experience with database security and compliance (encryption, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Proficiency in SQL Server Profiler, Performance Monitor, and Extended Events.
  • Experience in PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages for automation.
  • Ability to work seamlessly within a team as well as manage individual project assignments with minimum supervision.
  • Understanding and experience of cloud-based databases (Azure, AWS etc.) is a plus.
