About The Company

Client is a service and technology-oriented insurance company providing retirement solutions. Currently seeking a Manager, Accounting and Reporting to join a newly capitalized start-up insurance platform backed by a prominent asset management firm. This platform is part of a Cayman Islands-based insurer focused on providing fixed and fixed-index annuities and reinsurance solutions. Having distribution partnerships with more than 70 U.S.-based financial institutions, the company is strategically positioned to deliver products to a wide range of clients. The newly formed company is asset management-backed, with substantial capital dedicated to building and expanding its annuity business. this role presents a unique opportunity to help build the foundation of a growing platform specializing in fixed annuities and reinsurance products.

Salary, Location & More

Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP and US Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), requiring expertise in insurance accounting, statutory regulations, and financial reporting standards. Role can be based in New York, NY, Greenwich, CT or Charlotte, NC. Salary to the $150,000 range with a bonus on top

Responsibilities

  • Prepare/review US GAAP and SAP financial statements for multiple life/health carriers.
  • Prepare/review journal entries and detailed account reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during year-end audits and statutory examinations.
  • Assist in building and maintaining internal control procedures to ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement in reporting processes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field, with 4+ years of accounting experience in the US insurance industry.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing Life/Health statutory financial statements (“Blue Books”) is strongly preferred; knowledge of US GAAP for life insurers (LDTI and/or ASC 825) is also preferred.
