ABOUT THE ROLE

The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will be responsible for financial reporting, planning and analysis. This role will have an operational focus but also require in-depth technical knowledge of hotel accounting concepts to ensure our financial reporting can drive operating performance and bottom-line growth for an assigned portfolio of full service, select service an luxury hotels.


WHAT YOU WILL DO


Financial Reporting Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial performance and operational metrics to identify areas of improvement and actionable insights to drive cost-saving opportunities. Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Provide variance analysis and insights into financial performance against budget, forecasts, and prior periods.
  • Review monthly reporting packages (trial balance, balance sheet, and income statements) for the hotels (OpCos) to ensure books and records are kept in accordance with U.S. GAAP and USALI.
  • Prepare and Review bi-monthly forecast updates and asset management reporting packages, including P&L analyses, flex/flow analysis, PACE reports, and STR reports to identify trends and provide recommendations for operational improvements


Operational/Investment Management Responsibilities

  • Serve as the single point of contact for respective capital partner, for any and all data or analysis needs for their portfolio. Collaborate with the various operating disciplines to collect, present and respond to their inquiries.
  • Prepare and Review bi-monthly forecast updates and asset management reporting packages, including P&L analyses, flex/flow analysis, PACE reports, and STR reports to identify trends and provide recommendations for operational improvements
  • Prepare and analyze operational data for strategic review; assist in updating the weekly operational performance tracker to maintain visibility of portfolio performance; highlight any issues and recommend an action plan to rectify
  • Monitor and track progress and cost of capital projects (routine capital expenditure and major renovations)
  • Maintain current knowledge of key hotel and tourism trends, sales, indicators, supply and demand dynamics, performance statistics and related topics through various industry-standard tools.
  • Engage with hotels and property management teams during regular strategy and performance meetings, working collaboratively and actively participating in the formulation and execution of revenue and operating strategies.


Education And Experience

  • CPA or CPA candidate (active licensure not required)
  • BA/BS degree required, but advanced degree preferred, ideally in Business, Finance, Real Estate or Accounting, Economics or a related field
  • Hospitality experience in ownership, advisory, operations, property management, or asset management
  • 6-8 years of top-tier management consulting or investment banking experience preferred, or 6-8 years of financial reporting and analysis experience


Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Superior analytical skills in all aspects of financial modeling specifically strong excel skills (macros, INDEX etc.) and MS PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated expertise in hotel revenue and operating strategies
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis. A team player who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and has a positive attitude and flexibility to change priorities to meet new deadlines or situations
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and thrives working independently
  • Effective negotiator and skilled at establishing effective business relationships
  • Comfortable navigating and analyzing transaction legal documents, financial projections, and financial reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining effective professional working relationships
