THE PORTFOLIO COMPANY
This key leadership role is in a high-growth, high-profit portfolio company of big thinkers and big doers. It is a CPG/beverage/dietary supplement company with a history of strong, profitable growth as the number one product and brand in its emerging category. Through its expanding sales and distribution network, the team is positioned to scale existing and new products globally, driving exponential revenue growth. With the leadership team in place, the opportunity is now to execute a scalable retail expansion strategy, optimize sales execution, and maximize category leadership on the path to a lucrative exit.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As the CFO of the CPG portfolio company, you will report to and be a key strategic partner to the Chief Financial Officer of the parent company and the executive team. Your primary function will be to build a world-class, sophisticated finance function that provides high-level, actionable financial reporting, budgeting, and cash forecasting aligned with the company's growth plans.
You will play a crucial role in growing and scaling the business, building financial infrastructure to support expansion to $100M-$250M-$500M, and positioning it for a successful exit. This role requires a balance of process development and execution of strategy while maintaining disciplined financial operations in a dynamic and fast-evolving environment.
You will be responsible for raising capital to support growth and exit strategies, building brand value in the market, overseeing financial operations to maintain profitability, and supporting marketing and sales growth in the U.S. market. You will also play a pivotal role in managing conversations with strategic investors and investment bankers to position the business for acquisition.
You will provide leadership and ownership of all financial operations within the company and develop scalable systems. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and manage all aspects of financial reporting across multiple entities, including payables, receivables, payroll, and tax.
- Lead financial planning and management, ensuring the development of quarterly, annual, and long-term financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
- Drive the company's financial growth strategy, ensuring capital is deployed effectively to maximize ROI.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and forecasting, with key performance indicators in place to support decision-making.
- Oversee financial operations to ensure controlled spending while maintaining profitability.
- Develop and implement strategies to raise capital and prepare the company for a successful exit.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, investors, lenders, and external partners.
- Provide financial guidance on key business activities, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated.
- Optimize tax planning and corporate structuring for international business operations.
- Lead financial audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing finance team.
- Work closely with sales and marketing to optimize growth strategies.
- Provide strategic guidance in conversations with investment bankers and potential acquirers.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- MBA or equivalent degree in accounting or finance; CPA/CA designation required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as a CFO or VP of Finance in a high-growth, multi-business segment organization.
- Experience working directly with founders/entrepreneurs, with references from high-growth companies.
- Strong background in corporate financial modeling and investment analysis.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
- Track record of working with sales and marketing to drive profitable growth.
- Experience implementing and managing ERP systems.
- Demonstrated success in preparing companies for fundraising, exits, and IPO processes.
- Experience with highly regulated categories such as alcohol, beverage, cannabis, pharmaceutical, or dietary products is preferred.
- Knowledge of U.S. financial and tax regulations is a plus.
COMPENSATION
An aggressive base salary will be provided in this position, with an additional lucrative bonus plan based on performance. Full medical benefits are provided as part of this role. Options/equity will be provided to suitable candidates after completion of the first 90 days. This role also provides the opportunity for advancement in role, function, and pay.
