About Us

Acryl Data is the company behind DataHub, the #1 open source metadata platform. Originally developed at LinkedIn, DataHub has grown into the largest open source metadata community with over 12,000 data practitioners and deployments across 3,000+ organizations worldwide.

Through our flagship product DataHub Cloud, we provide enterprise-grade data catalog and observability solutions that enable seamless data discovery, robust data observability, and federated governance across organizations' entire data ecosystem. Our customers range from innovative startups to Fortune 10 companies, all benefiting from our expertise in bringing clarity and control to complex data environments.

Founded by the original creators of LinkedIn DataHub and Airbnb Dataportal, and backed by top-tier venture capital firms, Acryl Data combines deep technical expertise with a proven track record in building industry-leading data platforms.

Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Developer Advocate to join our team. If you're enthusiastic about empowering developers, thrive in technical communities, and excel at both technical communication and content creation, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage actively in the DataHub Slack community by answering technical questions, offering guidance, leading conversations, and fostering positive interactions.
  • Create compelling technical content such as technical blog posts, tutorials, and video content to educate users about DataHub's features, integrations, and best practices.
  • Deliver impactful technical presentations at conferences, webinars, and community events to promote DataHub and the broader metadata management ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with DataHub's product and engineering teams to understand technical concepts deeply and translate them into clear, digestible content for diverse audiences.
  • Develop and maintain example projects, sample code, and other resources to help developers succeed with DataHub.
  • Identify opportunities to improve DataHub's developer experience and advocate for user needs within the engineering team.
  • Partner with marketing to build campaigns that attract new developers and increase community engagement.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a Developer Advocate role in the metadata or open source ecosystems.
  • Hands-on experience using DataHub with technical expertise in data engineering and metadata management.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a talent for simplifying complex technical concepts.
  • Proven experience creating technical content such as blog posts, video tutorials, or documentation.
  • Comfortable speaking at events, leading workshops, participating in podcasts, or hosting livestreams and webinars.
  • Experience contributing to open source projects and engaging with technical communities.
  • Empathy and patience to help developers of varying skill levels succeed.
  • Familiarity with data ecosystems (e.g., Apache Kafka, Spark, dbt, Airflow) is a plus.
How We Work

Remote first. We're a fully-distributed company, and our interaction culture is deliberately mixed between meeting culture and written. We're writing-focused because it forces clarity of thought; and we have plenty of synchronous time to give space for collaborative ideation.
