Job description

This is a remote, home-based internship. Full time students from all US geographies will be considered. Our 2025 Summer internship program is an 8-week Paid Internship that runs from June 2nd – July 25th, at 37.5 hours weekly. The program will join interns across the country who are supporting different department focuses on American Cancer Society and ACS's Cancer Action Network. 80% of the time will be in working within the given department, with the Intern's manager, their mentor, and the team. The other 20% will be with a cohort of other interns around American Cancer Society and ACS CAN.

The ACS EMPOWER/ Hope Lodge Launch Intern will play a pivotal role in supporting the nationwide rollout of ACS EMPOWER, the American Cancer Society's new holistic support program designed for Hope Lodge guests and caregivers. This intern will assist in program coordination, implementation logistics, and community engagement efforts, ensuring a smooth and impactful launch at all locations.

This internship provides an opportunity to gain firsthand experience in program implementation, patient engagement volunteer coordination, and nonprofit operations, working alongside ACS leadership and Hope Lodge teams to introduce a transformative new initiative in cancer care support.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordinating the initial rollout of ACS EMPOWER at Hope Lodge pilot locations.
  • Support the development of launch materials, toolkits, and communication plans for Hope Lodge staff and volunteers.
  • Work with Hope Lodge teams to ensure program readiness, scheduling, and logistical setup for EMPOWER activities.
  • Track and document program launch milestones, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be available for entirety of 8-week program: June 2 – July 25, 2025, at 37.5 hours per week.
  • Full-time student, if you are an undergraduate student, you have completed your freshman year of college.
  • Have a minimum of a B average (cumulative 3.0 on 4.0 scale).
  • Plan to continue your education in the following term/semester.
  • Upload a resume upon application submission.
  • Note: an internship assignment may coincide with your last term/trimester as a full-time student, but the internship must be disengaged upon graduation.

The rate for this position is $18.50/hour. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
