Automation Test Engineer

The Automation Test Engineer leads the design, development, and execution of automated tests to identify software defects and ensure the quality of applications through the creation of scripts and test cases which automatically assess functionality against specifications as a contractor to the United States Air Force.

Rate: $55.29 - $56.73 per hr. during the initial six-month contract term. $130,000 - $140,00 upon conversion to a permanent employee. 

Work Location: Remote, based upon the direction and needs of the customer.

Basic Required Qualifications and Skills: 

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in a technical or computer field, or an additional 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 Years of experience with activities related to the required duties and responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Selenium, Java, and JavaScript.
  • Must have the ability to communicate at all levels, verbally and written, as well as conduct meetings and presentations.
  • Must be able to work within a cross-functional, geographically dispersed team to complete contractual commitments.
  • Must be able to work independently with little oversight, with the ability to be self-motivated and to stay focused.
  • Detailed understanding of incident management, system administration of system tools (Cron, etc.), and be able to apply that knowledge to a production environment.
  • Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Current DoD successfully adjudicated T3 investigation. Most commonly attained with a SECRET clearance (Note: a SECRET clearance is not required but the T3 investigation is necessary).

Desired Qualifications and Skills: It is desirable that the candidate have the following qualifications:

  • A master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in a technical or computer field and 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Playwright, JUnit, JMeter, or Cucumber.
  • Proficient in Python, ReactJS, or NodeJS.
  • Experience with AI-driven test automation approaches. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Develop a comprehensive test automation framework, inclusive of a test data management strategy, within the approved list of toolsets.
  • Develop a unit testing strategy and approach that developers can learn and adopt, which is focused on white-box testing (internal code inspection) rather than black-box testing (user interactions/outputs).
  • Derive functional and regression test requirements from requirements documents and existing manual test cases for both positive and negative scenarios.
  • Develop, implement, modify, maintain, and execute test plans and scripts in an automation tool for end-user interaction and system-to-system scenarios.
  • Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline that can run in a cloud environment.
  • Lead automated testing learning sessions to scale the overall effort and ensure appropriate change management for developers, testers, and stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.
